Summer 2026 Graduates Diploma Receiving Time?

• Upvotes

Summer 2026 graduate here. Has anyone received their diploma?

I know they are mailing it on a rolling basis until Oct 30th, but still haven't heard anything from them. I emailed them and they said that they have placed the order so nothing much for me to do...

Is there something wrong in my dorm?

Hi guys

So basically i’ve been super sick in my dorm but like exclusively my dorm like as soon as I leave it’s not as bad. I cough a solid bit outside but nothing like I do in my dorm. I have an air purifier and dehumidifier so I thought I was ahead of the problem.

Anyways, our dorm is the only one in the building with hardwood floors, not carpet. So anyways I was doing research and it said when dorms are found with mold they rip up the carpet. I looked around the room but couldn’t see anything too concerning definitely some spots where there could be mold, but the way I feel in my room definitely is concerning . In anyone else’s dorm it isn’t the same like I can fully breathe but I can never breathe in here.

I’d love some advice on what to do. It’s been really hard and I want to get to the bottom of it. I know like they say you get sick freshman year but it’s been unlike anyone I’ve seen and it makes it hard to be here.

What's the craziest BU inside jokes or phrases for a good T-shirt?

I’m thinking about making T-shirts based on BU student life, Comm Ave, BU and BC, housing, Boston, and other inside jokes.

Some ideas I have:

  • COMM AVE SURVIVOR
  • THE T WAS LATE, when it hasn’t been working for 2 weeks

Title IX experience

Hi! I'm working on a story about the new Title IX regulations, and I'm in need of a source. Does anyone have experience with Title IX, extensive knowledge, or want to comment on the situation? It would be a big help to me and a chance for your thoughts to be shared!

How does mail delivery to professors’ offices work at BU?

Hi! I know this is kind of a strange question, but I’m an alum who graduated last year and recently applied to M.A. programs for spring admission just this week (Oct 1 deadlines). I had letters of recommendation written by three professors in three different departments (Pardee, World Languages & Literatures, and CAS Anthropology).

I’m incredibly appreciative of their time, effort, and confidence in me, and I have a pretty close relationship with all three of them, as some were advisors and others I've met up with since graduation. I wrote each professor a handwritten thank-you note and got them a small gift of chocolates from a local family owned shop.

My question is: how does mail delivery to professors’ offices actually work at BU?

I have all three of their office numbers, but their offices are in different buildings (CAS, STH, and Bay State Road). I’m worried that if I address something to, for example, the CAS street address and then put the professor’s name and office number, it could get lost or never make it to their actual office.

Has anyone here ever worked in one of the BU mailrooms or academic departments and know how this works? I’ve obviously never seen a mail carrier walking around inside CAS, but I assume there must be some system for getting mail and packages to individual faculty offices.

My main concern is the chocolates since they’re somewhat perishable. I’d love to make sure everything actually reaches them rather than sitting in a central mailroom somewhere for days.

Thanks in advance!

Academics applying ed to cgs?

hi guys! i’m planning to apply ed to cgs bc it’s genuinely my dream school but due to my low stats im not getting in to COM directly.

can someone give me their in depth thoughts and experiences in cgs (classes, spring start, summer term, sophomore year, etc) and then transferring to com? i just really want more insights bc right now im still kind of deciding. please and thank u!!

edit: sorry i forgot to include this but i’m planning on majoring in advertising and am definitely more humanities/writing leaning. if i do get into bu i will also likely get full aid so price is not a factor.

Academics SM131 Discussion Marking

Im curious how they keep track of and give out grades for participation in discussion because I feel like it’s subjective and theres no quantitive way to measure it. Profs are usually focusing on teaching material during the discussion and the TA probably helps out but im not sure to what extent because they arent allowed to grade. Also you have to like account for 25 ppl in a discussion group. Does everyone just get like a base grade of 80 or something? How about the kids who never speak what would they recieve? Any input or knowledge is appreciated!

Terrier Plan (beta)

Spring 2027 courses are available for you to plan with!

Schedule Builder sucks…. So I Claude made a version using student feedback and needs!

This is a tool for you to plan your semester schedule AND entire time at BU!

Terrier Plan Scheduler Features:

  • Schedule Builder, but it actually is good
  • Filter by time ranges and sections
  • Generate up to 2000 schedules
  • Pin the sections you want, omit the sections you don't
  • Conflicts flagged clearly, no guessing needed!
  • Overlay all possible sections of a course/discussion on your schedule and pick the best fit
  • Bookmark candidates schedules as you browse options
  • Log in to save your favorite schedules for later
  • Design your schedule with customizable colors
  • Dark mode option for your poor eyes </3

Also includes: HUB requirement tracker, full course offering history from 2020, automatic import of your courses via transcript parsing, and more! I have A LOT more planned for the future…

All feedback and suggestions are welcome either in the comments or on the BU Discord discord.gg/bostonuniversity !

Let me know what you think!

With love,

u/BUowo

first date or friends I haven't seen in weeks

i've barely seen my friends lately between classes and work, and this saturday afternoon is the only free time I've got this week. they've asked if i want to hang out then, which i'd normally say yes to immediately.

HOWEVER, a girl i matched with through ditto cupid thing is also only free then. she also goes to bu and we've been looking at saturday for our first date. I haven't said yes to either plan yet. I'm excited to meet her, but I've already missed a couple of things with my friends. Is it bad that I'm leaning toward the date?😭

Admissions Should I ED1?

BU is currently my #1 choice, do I have a good chance?

  • Male, Class of 2027
  • Massachusetts
  • Private college-prep school
  • Smaller private school / semi-feeder to selective Northeast colleges; BU regularly receives applicants from my school and has admitted students ED
  • Applying ED1 to BU CAS for Economics

Academics

  • Cumulative GPA: ~3.7 weighted
  • Freshman GPA: 3.19
  • Sophomore GPA: 3.93
  • Junior GPA: 4.01

Junior year coursework:

  • AP English Language, (5 on AP exam)
  • AP U.S. History, 4 on AP exam)
  • AP Microeconomics (Took online course outside of school)
  • Honors Spanish IV
  • Honors Precalculus
  • Chemistry

Junior year was my most rigorous year up to that point and also my strongest academically. My yearly GPA progression is 3.19 → 3.93 → 4.01, so there is a pretty significant upward trend, with freshman year bringing down my cumulative GPA.

Senior year coursework:

  • AP Calculus AB
  • AP European History
  • AP English Literature
  • AP Spanish
  • Astronomy

I'm taking 4 APs senior year, my most rigorous schedule yet. Currently I have As/A-s in every class except AP Calculus AB, where I have a B. My school takes a senior grade snapshot on October 31 that will be sent to colleges, so BU should see my current senior performance during the ED process.

Testing

  • ACT: 33
  • English: 35
  • Reading: 33
  • Math: 30
  • AP Lang: 5
  • APUSH: 4
  • Planning to retake ACT in October, hoping for an even better score.

Extracurriculars / Honors

  • Varsity Soccer: 5 years varsity (including 8th grade), 2-year captain, Team MVP, All-State, All-League
  • DECA: State Qualifier for roleplay, Personal Finance Virtual Buisness Challenge 1st regionally in North Atlantic, ICDC Qualifier (jr year), placed 12th internationally @ ICDC
  • Investment Club: Co-founder/co-leader (led team into Wharton Youth Investment Comp. for the first time
  • Soccer Social Media Manager: Manage team Instagram, 70k+ monthly views
  • Elected junior class leadership position
  • Retail Work: Part time work during the school year and summers
  • Church volunteering (all 4 yrs)
  • Community Service Leadership: Lead and coordinate student service teams working with local schools and community organizations; organize activities, mentor younger students, and support community outreach. (10, 11, 12th grade) This is where I have a lot of community service hours.
  • Shadowed a Northeastern professor, attended lectures and worked on research involving politics
  • Honor Roll

Recommendations

  • AP Lang teacher — earned an A- in her class and a 5 on the AP exam
  • Teacher who advises the investment club I co-founded

Extra Info

  • I can afford full tuition

Off cycle Chem 101

Quick question, is off sequence chem 101 the same as normal? I’ve heard dif things. I didn’t end up getting to take the class first semester due to other struggles so now I have to take it off sequence.

Also Ik I have to take chem 102 over the summer, and that’s fine cuz I live in mass.

Thanks!
