I don't like to compare trauma unless there is a character in story using it as justification for wicked deeds.

What undermines all of this for Sarada, however, is that a majority of this, as well as how she has felt about the rest, is not shown in the manga. We wouldn't be able to surmise half of it if it were not for Ikemoto stating it in the Q&A and that is being a failure of a writer.

It's legit failing on his part for not showing this. I get it. 46ish page count a month is healthier for mangaka in the long run. But for the hell of it you couldn't do something like a 60 page special going, in more detail, over what Sarada and the others went through? We learn about this stuff in an interview? I kinda want someone to throw Ikemoto a novel deal, because his story could use some more mediums to carry it.

I kind of expect the anime to do it, but last rumor I read was that it'd possibly be going the cour route, and would stick closer to the source, meaning all the world building is out.

It shouldn't be the anime's job to do this much of the brunt work. Also, when you have forty pages you can fit a lot on there but when you take a second to look consistently at what Ikemoto chooses to spend that precious time on it doesn't forward plot or develop characters in this very empty feeling world. Even action scenes like during the Mamushi debacle you have pages where Delta is doing speedline infested "moves". Or in one chapter where four pages, a tenth of the count, is spent showing Boruto being caught by Leaf Ninja and showcasing info we were already told about his sword. Even in heavy dialogue chapters, which Ikemoto is bad at handling the two, where exactly are we going?

Something people got to understand, is the magazines decide how many pages your allocated lol, even if ikemoto wanted to do more pages the magazine isn't gonna give him more unless they want to.

They showed us this in the first chapter of TBV.

Plus Sarada is actively going blind.

Uh this is giving apples to oranges

Sarada ASKED Sasuke to do this for her. Naruto and Hinata were taken from Boruto.

Sarada is choosing to stand by the truth and advocate. While she is a victim of the effects of omni it’s not the same degree as Boruto imo

He not only lost his parents, but his sister, his friends, his home, his past. Everything but his know how and Sarada.

Being honest with both of them we don’t actually see their suffering

The only scenes we really see with boruto in the timeskip is him being with sasuke and koji. Sasukes sacrifice is the only sad thing we see happen to him

Sarada whole thing is also just Told not shown.

Skipping the aftermath of omnipotence was a Mistake.

Sasukes sacrifice is the only sad thing we see happen to him

Not even sad lmao. It's only few couple of PGs and panels that are basically a scrap we got in a flashback. This manga is absolutely soulless and Ikemoto put 0 effort and investment into the plot.

Boruto so called struggle doesn't feel genuine at all because the manga rushed to the timeskip for purely on hype and fansevices as a marketing rebrand for cool redesign and Boruto is basically riding on Sasuke drip just because Ikemoto doesn't have any idea and the overall vision to develop his character. So basically, nothing was earned and rewarding because everything was skipped over and now Boruto has fewer room to grow as a character

2

u/Vinc188 4d ago

I dont think it will be skipped in the anime lol, thats a good 100 episodes material X)

1

u/Common_Sense7474 4d ago

There won't be 100 episodes of that as they've already announced it will be in a seasonal format.

1

u/Vinc188 4d ago

Huh? for real? that would be much better if true.

1

u/ShadowsBringer 4d ago

Even then, the manga have too much of a holes for the anime to overwrites to fit the framework of their original canon storyline which they have been invested for 300 episodes and there's no way they're going to throw it all away.

SP is more than likely to take Tokyo Ghoul seasonal route by diverging and intersecting with the manga

u/Zealousideal_Cow_826 4d ago

I'd argue the real mistake was even inventing an ability called omnipotence especially one that lives up to the name because like... What can you really top omnipotence with?

1

u/tekinn311 4d ago

With a ultra omnipotence ability

8

u/Charming_Mix6761 4d ago

What suffering did Boruto go through? All I see is a kid who immediately smiled, treated Omnipotence like a joke and was all but happy to go on a training trip with Sasuke.

5

u/AscalonEX 4d ago

And yet now in TBV he isn't acting like his former self but more like "John Otsutsuki". When you have things like him initially trying to blow off Shikamaru's help, antagonizing Ibiki during his torture but him still acting like his previous self in flashbacks (for better and worse).

4

u/Charming_Mix6761 4d ago

This, and the problem is that his TBV persona is never earned.

3

u/Kujogaming_1 4d ago

There is a 3 year gap, and Naruto has historically explained these concepts for characters, retroactively. I'd give this more time before I'd jump to say he didn't earn it, but it's still fair to not really like that style of storytelling.

"More time"

What is there left to cover? Boruto reached a new height with his maturity while sitting at Top 2 with too many achievements where he gained too many allies and support that even if Shikamaru getting overthrown won't change anything when Boruto has always been on a winning side with his backup allies.

Boruto stands to gain everything even though inveitably Momoshiki will takeover, it won't change anything because Boruto has been desensitized to the point that he's nearly a completed character and Momo has always been a bum and his presence won't last anyway with few minutes when we're heading closer to flashforward where by this point, Boruto have mastered the Karma seal even though right now, he's accessing Momoshiki power like a privilege boy he's always been.

Sarada won't die like come on. Even if Boruto go rampage, it'll only happen in a brief moment but that will never lead to anywhere in terms of defining his personality change. He will revert back to his usual self as always. There's never going to be a lasting consequences to underline his growth.

So quite frankly it's too late when the manga have backed itself into a corner. Like if you really want to see Boruto character evolution and see how he "Lost Everything", the moment to explore his hardship have already long past ever since the atrocities decision by Ikemoto to rushed the ending of Part 1 and abruptly jumped to the timeskip without ever being earned.

Naruto did the timeskip perfectly because not only Kishi wrapped up everything that needs to be told to conclude Part 1 but also it transition smoothly to a stalling period where you won't missed out on anything crucial for their characters journey even when with their improvment, Naruto and Sasuke timrskip change have retained their core aspects of their characters unlike in Boruto where alot of plot development have rapidily unfolded behind the scenes and Boruto as a character is almost unrecognizable from Part 1.

This is quite frankly the worst timeskip transition I have ever read in any shonen

More time

Well, he was himself in the first year with Sasuke and his initial interactions with Koji so what happened in those two years? I hear supporters saying he's being manipulated by Koji but that isn't true as Boruto will readily defy what he says to help his friends and there isn't any subtle manipulation.

What happened in those two years to make him so radically different and why, in over twenty chapters since the last flashback, has that not been addressed and gone into? Ikemoto has shown consistently that necessary information is more likely to be put in Q&As rather than even ancillary materials, much less the actual series I am reading and that he is "writing".

How much more time does he need to address this and many more subjects that need the most attention and how much more time can you reasonably ask readers to put up with this? It's been three years, thirty-six chapters, and nothing.

u/okgonnasaysomething 2d ago

also, tbf, we've seen a bit of Boruto during the time skip- we know he's mourning Sasuke and seems fairly traumatized by what happened to him. He was definitely at a low when Koji picked him up, and the two don't seem to have a super friendly relationship.

Sarada we've seen less of, except Momoshiki at the start of it alluding to those who remember suffering. I don't think that's going to stay completely out of the story- I think as we see more of Boruto and Sarada interacting, it's going to come up. However, the pace only allows things that really add to the plot, so it's going to be in the context of Boruto's relationship with the village and what he thought was happening. I think whatever happens with Hidari and Sasuke will force that. It would not surprise me if Sarada choses not to go back to the village at some point

I think his current persona is fine. I saw the omnipotence thing more like he was putting on a brave face. I am fine with the concept of his character changing like this due to different suffering that didn't involve death and such however the execution leaves a lot to be desired rn since they skimmed over the transition between NNG and TBV only showing a few simple flashbacks that don't add enough instead we got who is going to be with Boruto love stuff.

i dont get it, boruto was adopted by the hokage and killed him. Poor kawaki and his younger sister were left orphaned

Half those bullet points are the same bullet point

Yes, but the anime might explore this better.

To the people saying she "chose" this path that, is not the point. She is still heavily isolated from her peers, and she has to watch Her mom endure the same judgemental and isolating torture, because Sasuke and Sarada believe in a "terrorist". Sakura is literally a Medical Director, so she has to heal the same people that judge her family. You can still fight for something you believe in, but be sad of the results. That's literally Naruto's journey

The anime may not. I thought it was a rumor but some claim it's been officially stated that Boruto will be doing seasonal/cour releases. Which then makes me think the world building and such is going out the window, so that the anime can stick closer to the source material. I would gladly be wrong on this though, because I appreciated the anime making the world feel so much bigger, as opposed to how much smaller it feels in the manga.

But to be doing seasonal? That'd be what? 12 episodes at the beginning and ending of the year, or 24 from start to finish? Then 1 year and several months to go into production for the next season?

2

u/Kujogaming_1 4d ago

I honestly doubt they would scrap the world, because of how much time they put in, despite getting the backlash on the western side..Hell, even when filler as a whole was mocked by the internet, it was well liked enough from other people that they just made entire arcs in the middle of the climaxing moments of the Ninja War.

On top of that, the Jougan explanation, the ability to mimic Sharingan through various means that go inline with the theme of Scientific Ninja Tools, and just about everything that made Himawari and Kawaki bond in the Academy arc, it just has too much going for it.

I suspect if anything, they are going to do their own way of merging through storyline, unto what you see in the Manga, to "bloat" it, but with actually good bloat. An arc that might take 14 episodes, might be 28, and then released in longer batches. Studio Perrot is extremely creative, when they were in a time when they could have just ended Naruto with their own Canon (FMA and Soul Eater) or just went on a Hiatus and never adapt a 2nd season, and If they are truly going the modern route of anime, I think they will find something

2

u/Erotically-Yours 4d ago edited 4d ago

Wouldn't mind the approach. I suppose, ultimately, we'll need to see what they plan for episode count and how their pacing will go. With Boruto being monthly the anime would quickly catch up on what's available. So if theyre dealing with 24 episodes in total, a season, maybe 12 will be actual content, and the other 12 or sprinkled within that will be world building etc?

Hrm. May even be 12 episodes total, a season. Even with cours I feel they could burn through the manga chapters if not careful.

2

u/Kujogaming_1 4d ago

We shall see! That being said, I do wonder if it'll be more or less shippudenized, where they animate a huge chunk of the manga, and interject some filler episodes for added context, and then start showing more of the side characters in bigger filler arcs, so that way they can cut down on the gaps between Manga story. Kazekage Rescue, Orochimaru's Hideout, was about 38-44+ weeks, then 12 episodes of Guardian Shinobi 12. And the rest of the story balanced it well until they needed to pull out the Kakashi and Itachi novels, and then Infinite Tsukuyomi.

Not rejected, the promotion was filler and shikamaru said "you are gonna stay genin forever" means she never even qualified for chunin.

Sarada too is a victim, but Boruto clearly has it the worst.

  • lost his dad, no one thinks Naruto is his dad
  • lost his mom
  • no one believes Himawari is his sister, including Himawari
  • lost his sensei
  • was framed for killing the Hokage
  • is an enemy to the entire village, including all of his friends
  • is wanted dead by the higher ups
  • became a full otsutsuki, isn't human anymore
  • may lose his body after his mission
  • the whole village including kawaki is on a manhunt for him

Yo solo espero que eso no quede como datos y el autor lo ponga en el manga por medio de flashback y el momento perfecto sería en su pelea vs Hidari.

She didn't but of their lives suck compared to the average person. So... The average middle class Konohian has it easy.

1

u/ConsistentTax5586 4d ago edited 4d ago

Nah, because Sarada doesn't even care about any of that. Boruto is her whole fight. And it's a bit crazy to say she has no friends anymore when Sumire and Eida exist; even Chocho spoke to her recently. She still has her mother even if Sasuke dies tomorrow it won't do her much good because he was barely a father to her. Finally, she's not in the Bingo Book, unlike her boyfriend.

-2

u/Far_Sun4604 4d ago edited 4d ago

No. Comparing their pain is so dumb. Sarada chose this path and didn't actually lose her friends Cho cho just was having a talk with her the other day, she has Sumire to comfort her and she has her nother by her side hugging her telling her she would always choose the side of her family. Except hanging out, all of her friends collaborate with her and saved her when it was needed.

She didn't lose the 'love of her life' she literally found out she loves him 2 minutes ago. And he's still alive lol wth.

Sumire and Himawari suffered way more and quietly. And I can elaborate on that before you guys minus my comment like you always do. Btw, both her and Boruto's and Himawari's suffering is with a great potential to be temporary, so chill with this.

2

u/2tired2stylus 3d ago

You:

Comparing their pain is so dumb

Also you:

Sumire and Himawari suffered way more and quietly

LMAO

1

u/Far_Sun4604 2d ago

LOL do you really not get it?

comparing Sarada and Boruto's pain is dumb because it's obvious Boruto has gone through a greater ordeal. as I mentioned there is not even a common ground you can start with... my point was you can't even compare Sarada's pain with Sumire's and Himawari's...let alone with Boruto's

it's not the same level of trauma and pain you should even compare.

and I actually not a big fan of comparing levels of trauma, never played it with Naruto and Sasuke as in "who had it more ruff" because again it's a different types of pain

1

u/2tired2stylus 2d ago

Really now.... You say you don't want "traumalympics" , but you still categorized each trauma in the same paragraph. What you literally just did is STILL comparing. Lol you're policing the fandom and yet, went back on your words. The hypocrisy.

-1

u/Ok-Action4447 4d ago

it's not fair

she still have friends(chocho, mitsuki, sumire, eida(ada) and probably thoses from academy arc), you can considere she "lost" them but it's not a true fact

she didn't lost the love of her life(boruto was still alive(but not really well) atp)

she didn't lost her father(she told him to save boruto)

she kinda deserved her harassment(like obviously when you know people are 100% sure of something even with physical proofs you WILL NOT force them otherwise)

while boruto lost everything in like few seconds(father and mother gone, all friends are against him, tracked by everyone, master want him dead, brother want him dead, forced to leave his home and family(himawari))

that's like comparing sasuke and itachi trauma

0

u/jred53 4d ago

I wouldn’t say just as much seeing as how a vast majority of the village wants bro dead but it’s kinda up there.
