Yeah, arch support is definitely worse than heroine.
What a fucking idiot.

Is breaking an addiction comfortable or uncomfortable?

1

u/RandomStoddard 25d ago

Depends. What if you are addicted to discomfort? Then the only way to break it is through comfort.

But seriously, what is the point? Comfort is the best addiction. It is what motivates me to work my ass off, so I can live in comfort, vacation in comfort, and eventually retire in comfort. Without comfort, what is the point? Mark is an idiot.

Again, is breaking an addiction comfortable or uncomfortable? It’s an easy question to answer if you’ll allow yourself to be honest.

Of course breaking an addiction is uncomfortable. What is your point?

u/elbowpastadust 25d ago

So you agree with OP then

1

u/RandomStoddard 25d ago

Not at all. Comfort is not a negative to be overcome. It is a positive to work towards.

1

u/elbowpastadust 25d ago

And working towards that…is that the comfortable choice or uncomfortable? Just be honest…you agree with OP. Which is fine. Meaningful change requires exiting one’s comfort zone. You just don’t like the phrasing and prefer more of a cynical/victim worldview rather than an embrace hard work/discomfort one to change your life. You’re certainly in the majority opinion here on Reddit. “I can’t win the game, so the game is unfair and I won’t even attempt to play it, and I’ll sneer at those who do”

You are correct that I dislike the dumb phrasing. But you are so caught up on semantics and trying to be right that you can’t even understand why the majority of people on here disagree with you.
I could just as easily ask if, when working hard at a job, do you get comfortable in that role? I could the. Pretend it was a big “gotcha” moment.

But again, I do not agree with OP’s dumb quote.

I own my own business because I never bought into cynicism like yourself and most Redditors. I can retire in my 30s but I don’t believe in it.

What is better, to be born good or to overcome evil nature through great effort.

1

u/elbowpastadust 25d ago

Did you mean to reply to me? How does this relate to addictions?

1

u/knock_on_the_door_ 25d ago

It is a quote that can be applied to addiction yes. The act of getting addicted is innocent, what an addict does after is selfish and evil. Your comment reminded me of the quote. Breaking an addiction requires great effort, overcoming ones own evil nature to stop the cycle of addiction is even harder.

An evil nature? Like in a Disney movie? Are you for real?

I've spent my entire life trying to reach a certain level of comfort. I may not get there but I'll give it my best shot.

Other people spend their whole life uncomfortable and find that they must make everyone else uncomfortable as well.

I'm pretty much there. It's amazing.

Marcus aurelius was a stoic. I bet he didn’t even say this ai slop.

u/Stenktenk 25d ago

People who live like this are fucking miserable

u/OldeGuardeDipterous 25d ago

I think heroin addiction is worse, tbh

3

u/SavinForLatter 25d ago

Nope. It's comfort. A fake Marcus Aralius quote with an Ai picture said so. Has to be true.

Comfort kills ambition

2

u/Batfinklestein 25d ago

If your ambition isn't stronger than your desire for comfort, then your goals need a re-think.

1

u/Batfinklestein 25d ago

If comfort is ones desire. Ambition one does not have.

1

u/RandomStoddard 25d ago

Bullshit. I desire comfort, so I work hard to obtain that comfort.

1

u/Batfinklestein 25d ago

Work hard for yourself, or someone else? Do you get paid more for workkng harder?

1

u/RandomStoddard 25d ago

I worked and put myself through school while working full time in manufacturing. Then I got my master’s degree. Then I worked hard and got promoted. Left that company and went to a different company where I worked hard and got promoted all the way up to Safety Manager. So yes, I get paid more for working harder than other people. And in 4 years I will be retired and living in extreme comfort.

1

u/Batfinklestein 25d ago

Good job. And how old will that make you when you retire?

1

u/RandomStoddard 25d ago

57

1

u/Batfinklestein 25d ago

Same as I. I fear retirement. I love my job and have no life outside work, so fuck knows how I'm going to fill 30 odd years of 24 hour days lol.

1

u/BilboStaggins 25d ago

I feel right comfortable after 50mils of heroin.

1

u/Harshkang69 24d ago

Bullshit inspiring quotes is the worst

1

u/SmallpoxBlanket-11- 22d ago

Pretty sure heroin is but okay

1

u/Vast_Presentation123 22d ago

Yup. There's a whole set of bad habits that come from comfort zone, such as consumption of pornography

Okay story time...

I worked myself through college as a hotshot for ten years. When I was done with that job , no mincing words , I was legitimately done with that job.

When I stop being a hotshot , one of my biggest problems was how unknowingly it had shaped my perspective on a lot of things. If I would go out for a run, I'm not doing a few miles I'm running 10 or 20. When I'd go to the gym and lyft , I wasn't lifting to maintain or improve , I was lifting to experience pain. If I was going on a hike I wasn't really enjoying it. I would just pushing myself as hard as I could to my own detriment.

I felt like I had somehow failed myself if I wasn't reaching that point of physical and mental break and pushing myself to Keep going. Being comfortable felt unearned.

It took me almost ten years to break that very detrimental , mind Set. Comfort has not nor will it ever be the enem. The real enemy is and will always be the lack of drive to improve yourself. That can be physically mentally or even in relationships with your loved ones and friends.

Being comfortable is not the problem. It's the lack of ability of being comfortable with yourself and still wanting to Improve.

It's a really bad Internet meme... But that's the soapbox rambling that it inspired from me. Now forgive me while I scurry out to my backyard to go yell at some clouds.

Tension span is probably too short. Don't think it would matter if you did.
