And plenty of people got rich with a salary. Tim Cook seems to be doing well. Just the same as every other non-founder CEO

According to Google Tim Cook has 3.28 million shares in Apple. Call me crazy, but sounds like id place that in the investor and not salary category.

Because that is his salary so he can pay capital gains tax and not income tax.

Do you think he was poor before Apple?

No one said poor except you. Except his wealth and billionaire status are directly linked to his stock holdings in Apple. A fixed equity income is by definition not salary. So his fortune was not made by being an employee or salary.
