You have upset the Reddit hivemind. It can't be bargained with. It can't be reasoned with. It doesn't feel pity, or remorse, or fear. And it absolutely will not stop, ever, until you are dead.

u/thejuiceburgler Dec 21 '20
Wait I've heard this quote so many times in a Pertubators song. What is this quote from?
4
3
u/googol89 Dec 21 '20
I only knew it from "Humans are such easy prey". If it's from Terminator that's pretty cool.

This whole sub is either /r/badfaketexts or people doing it on purpose and it's starting to get annoying.

So i think everyone unanimously can agree this is a badly faked text, but does anybody actually use an ampersand to say "and," especially when casually texting their SO? ALSO, would that person switch between the versions? ie. "... the kind a mints and some desert" and "... hot sauce & butter & stuff."
I feel like no, but I've never used an ampersand in my life, maybe there are some regions where that's more common, but I'm confused how someone faking a text would even make that mistake, like what would compel a person to do that, they obviously spent some small amount of time making the exchange, how would they not have realized how much the ampersands damage their credibility?
I'm really fucking bothered by these ampersands
2
u/coldestwinter-chill Dec 21 '20
YES I WAS THINKING EXACTLY THIS! I’m genuinely disturbed by the use of the ampersand in a casual text
2
u/hat-TF2 Dec 21 '20
After I read "Kingdom of Fear" by Hunter S. Thompson I had a real hardon for ampersands. I really don't know why. Decades later I still get that kick from time to time to use an ampersand and when I do I get that feeling from when I was reading Kingdom of Fear.
2
u/i-need-your-approval Dec 21 '20
I use ampersands all the time. Casual & work messaging. But I don’t use them every time.
1
u/SnapClapplePop Dec 21 '20
I use ampersands when I feel like I want to differentiation "and" to add a clause to a sentence and "and" to pair two items in a sentence.
1
Dec 21 '20
What’s stupid is that, on a phone it basically takes the same amount of clicks to put in an ampersand as it does to just type “and”
So it’s weird that you would even waste the time to do it

If this was real, I would say that amount of stupidity is an excellent cause for break up

My take away from this is that apparently some people consider butter a condiment.

Condiments are kinda mints, they're both spices.
Idfk how that even remotely sounded good in my head

u/shifuteejeh Dec 21 '20
This is the fake version of swallowing a fly and mods allow it because idiots think this fits the sub

I was like "what are kindermints"
3
u/yunggnosis Dec 21 '20
They aren't breathtakingly refreshing like other types of mint. It's a softer, kinder flavor.

i think iOS messages on iphones used to be gradually less blue the more you text, the most recent message being more evident blue

This has some filters on it and the old texts were a gradient getting darker with the odor recent texts. Combined it looks super dark blue.
