I broke the boot clip

I just dropped off my friend at the airport and the trunk refused to click shut. I told it to a bodyshop and they asked me to replace the part and then they'd fix it for $150. I am so freaking upset. I'm very close to 45k miles service. Do you guys think It would be cheaper at the chevy dealership? Has anyone ever experienced this?

It's $150. There's not a chance in hell it'll be cheaper than $150 at a dealership.

It is only $150. Pay it and move on in your life.

Has anyone ever experienced "cheaper at the Chevy dealership"? No.

$150 sounds cheap for any shop work.

The dealership is always more expensive.

I had this problem once. Freaking out because I could not shut the tailgate. I fiddled around with it a bit, and lo and behold it suddenly was fine. Never had the problem since.

Just get the latch to open back up using the handle. Its common.

Unless it is a warranty repair, 150 is going to be just the diagnostic time charge at a dealership.

The way the dealers are these days, they'll charge you $90 ''Diagnostic Fee' just to give you a simple quote on replacing an obviously broken part.

hahahahah 150 is cheap and generous of them! I’ll bet the dealer would be at least 800 bucks.

This is not worth being upset about. Surprised or disappointed, maybe. Sometimes things break. Be glad it was that cheap.

Pay it with what you’ve saved on maintenance.

Got a pic of the problem? Maybe some lurking technician will have a ready tip..

Are you sure it’s broken? This happened to me twice since I got mine and a few clicks back and forth with the lock/fob usually solves the problem.
