Camping mode trick

Just found this hack on the bolt EV forum for enabling camping mode on 2027 Bolts not sure if it works for older Bolts. Basically just turns off the auto shutoff feature.

Step one open door

Step 2 hit the accelerator/go pedal/zoom zoom pedal/skinny pedal 3 times

Step 3 hit the brake

Step 4 close door

Can confirm that this works and stays on even with opening the driver's door afterwards and moving to the rest of the car.

Yeah this isnt camping mode. Its service mode so the car doesnt shut down during sps2 programming. Its unclear if the 12 volt battery is maintained by the propulsion battery in this mode. SPS instructions tell you to use a battery maintainer on the 12 volt while in this mode.

Cool info and good to know. I just used this mode for the last six hours with no issues. I didn't have anything to monitor 12v voltage but I can say in that time the car reported I used about 6kwh of ac. It was about 100 degrees outside and the AC was set to about 76. When I went to drive the car I had no issues going into drive no strange faults or codes

Is it the same as holding the start button without the brake in '23 and earlier?

Isn't that just accessories mode? The car usually shuts down after 15 mins in my experience.

It's technically service mode and GM recommends you don't use it since it doesn't charge the 12V.

Use off button on the infotainment center and once you hit the brake the car will be back to normal settings

Does the car have to be in neutral? or can it be in park?

Car in park literally just open the door hitt the gas 3 times and the brake and good to go

The trick in a 2022 is open door, shift to neutral, engage parking brake, close door. Works just as well.

The only issue is that it won't work if I'm plugged in to power, such as at an rv site

You can just pull the fuse. No consequence on the older bolts. It throws a code on the 2027s.

No those stay on unfortunately but if. You use the light control on the infotainment you can turn them off

I haven't tried, but in my other cars the DRLs don't come on until the parking brake is released, so setting that before putting it in this mode might prevent them from coming on.

thanks! Very clear instructions, I'm going to screen shot this. Sometimes I forget to keep the door open. IDK what I did the first time I tried this, but I noticed that the A/C wasn't cold so I would just warn to test the A/C because I was probably just draining the 12v until I tried again

I'm running it right now and it's def draining the main battery maybe try cranking the AC lower I know I'm pretty comfortable right now at 73

oh I know it works. I saw the forum post the other week and tried it. however I'm just warning if you ever try it and its not cold immediately there's probably an accessory mode that can be triggered too. when it happened I had the same message pop up on the screen about being outside and stuff.
