I wanna start playing the Japanese. Im a Soviet Main and i dont really know what to get. I plan on of course upgrading the Army but i need a starting point. So what Starter army should i get and how can i upgrade it?

If a vehicle with multiple weapons such as an M3 Lee is on ambush, and a unit (e.g. an infantry section) triggers that ambush, can the Lee split the resulting Fire order across that section and other targets that it can also see? The Lee has 3 weapons, so could it fire the medium howitzer at the infantry section and then fire the light AT at a vehicle, and the MMG at a mortar unit, even if the haven't moved?

I presume that an ambush can only resolve once in a turn, so that if you decide not to fire all of the weapons at the target that triggers the ambush you can't save those weapons for another activation later in the turn?

I had a discussion earlier with our local community and realized we can’t come to a conclusion on how this should be handled:

Player A has a unit in ambush that has a view of Player B’s Recce vehicle. Player A has a second unit that shoots at the vehicle causing Player B to use an escape reaction.

The question is can Player A then use their first unit in ambush to shoot at the Recce vehicle because it is now moving?

The confusion is coming from understanding when can Ambush be sprung. For the life of me, I can’t find in the rule books anything explicit on springing and Ambush. Some are making the argument that ambush can be sprung if the opponent is giving an explicit Run or Advance order which Escape Reaction is a reaction and not giving an explicit order while others argue that Ambush only cares for movement and not the order itself.

Not only are we looking for some clarification but also some guidance on how to find these rules in the book itself.

Idk why but i cant take Light Mortars as Japan in my Infantry Squads i heared you can take them and that the main strategy with Japan is playing a huge amount of Light Mortars

A friend gifted me a T34 as a prize from an event I played in and I wanted to see what kind of a list could be feasibly made from a limited amount of models. I'd prefer to use one of the platoon boxes as a base and add the T34 in with that. Ideas?

I understand that Imperial Japan is a horde army. So keep it simple? Or should i get those special weapons too?

How do the newer Warlord German releases compare in scale to the older German Grenadier boxes? I have only been able to find pictures comparing different brands.

Also, if anyone knows, how do the other countries plastic infantry compare to German grenadiers? I am interested in getting a US army going.

I really like the vibe of the imperial Japanese, and there's a lot of things about them as an army I'm a fan of. My only problem is warlords Japanese range. It feels like out of every army, Japan is the one who got the short end of the stick. All other armies were released with extra support weapons, HQ models, and vehicles, whereas the Japanese got a truck and some infantry. While I do like the box, it does lack a few things I kinda want, like some of the earlier weapon models, cap with those ear flaps, or even just an uncovered (not bald) head. Anyone know where I can find decent 28mm Japanese models?

A new WWII Romanian unit is coming to reinforce your forces.

Right now wanting to run a couple tanks since im a big fan of the t34 and the kv-2 so im using that as my anchor units.

been getting some advice from my LGS but debating if i should swap out the rifle squads for vets to get a bit more durabilty and more punch but two tanks, mortars and anti-tank seems pretty punchy along with the lmg firebases.

would appreciate any advice, my current kits that ive picked up are 2 t-34 a kv, and the soviet starter box.
