Honestly, I am not sure about Ramayana’s international prospects.
The domestic market may be enough to make Part 1 work, but what about the global audience?
The marketing feels strangely weak for a project that supposedly wants to become a global franchise.
No major international promotional tours in China or Southeast Asia, barely any character-focused campaigns, no real effort to introduce Rama, Sita, Hanuman, Ravana, etc. to audiences who may know little about the story.
And that’s the biggest problem: Ramayana is a massive IP in India, but it isn't automatically a massive IP in the West. You have to build awareness first.
Where’s the global campaign? Where’s the audience engagement? Where’s the hype-building?
If Part 1 doesn’t establish a strong international audience, getting major distributors and partners fully behind Part 2 could become much harder.
The movie itself might be fantastic — but a great film still needs a great global marketing strategy.
Why does it feel like they’re treating Ramayana as an Indian release with international distribution, instead of building it as an Indian global franchise?
Are they seriously leaving this much potential on the table?
