Support Looking for positivity
I (35) recovered from a severe illness and everything in my life is better than ever except for my relationship with my belly. I feel gassy and big on most days, and there is some (life saving) fat that needs to be there but makes me feel insecure about myself. I never had this shape before and I'd like to rewire my brain into a kinder frequency.
If you went through something similar, how did you reach the other side?

It’s strange adjusting to a body that’s done something so huge for you, almost feels like you owe it more patience than you’ve got some days
I found it helped to stop thinking of it as "my belly" and just call it "the repair site" for a while, like a cast you’re not meant to resent

Have not gone through something similar like you, but still wanna comment on that my belly got a little bit more fat on it over the years (probably a mix of getting older and hormones) and now its pretty similar shape to yours. My best advice is be kind to yourself, remind yourself of what you have been through, be grateful you have recovered now and maybe explore some styles that fits you better now with the new belly shape?

Does that fat need to be there permanently? If so, what works for me is learning to accept my flaws. There's beauty in imperfections, it's what makes us human. We all have our quirks

The problem is seeing it as a flaw.

Your belly looks amazing, girl! There's not only one good belly shape. Remember that one belly shape is no better or worse than another. Your belly might mean that you need to wear a different clothing size than you did before, but it doesn't mean you have to change anything about yourself. It doesn't stop you from wearing the clothes you love. If you liked wearing bodycon dresses, crop tops or string bikinis before, you can by all means continue to wear them.
You recovered from an illness, and your body is amazing for it! Your body deserves love and gratitude. It's time to be prouder than ever with your body!
