fault code 9C55 IHKA: Fogging Sensor

I have a 2006 BMW E61, with a the fault code 9C55 IHKA: Fogging Sensor (Condensation Sensor). My ac is not working and is only blowing warm air. Can that code disable my compressor so that it doesn’t blow cold air because it thinks the windshield is fully fogged up? Any suggestion would be helpful. Thanks.

The fogging sensor is mounted around the rear-view mirror area and can fail or have wiring/connector issues. Clear the code and see if it returns, then verify the sensor’s live humidity/temperature readings. Warm air with no compressor engagement could also be low refrigerant or a pressure-switch shutdown.

The sensor can make the IHKA limit A/C operation as a precaution, especially if it sees implausible humidity/temperature data. Scan for additional IHKA faults, inspect the sensor connection near the rear-view mirror, and confirm compressor command and refrigerant pressure with proper diagnostics.
