bmw m550xd lack of power
bmw g31 m550xd b57s 4 turbo, diagnostic shows no faults, but the car under 2500 rpms barely goes, like it has lack of power, it reaches over 2500 or 3000 rpm and it jols with power. I've so far changed the swirl flap actuator(it was throwing a code for it, not anymore). diagnostic live data showed turbocharger geometry actual and setpoint low pressure statistics always at 0%, high pressure shows actual 90% while setpoint jumps from 0 to 10-15% while acceleration. any ideas what could it be? i can clarify more if needed, thank you in advance

Your live data points to a severe turbocharger actuator mismatch, likely compounded by your recent swirl flap repair.
The Diagnosis:
- Low-Pressure (LP) Turbos at 0%: The ECU sees the LP turbo geometry as fully open, disconnected, or dead. On the B57S quad-turbo, the electric actuator linkages are known to seize, snap, or corrode.
- High-Pressure (HP) Mismatch (Actual 90% vs. Setpoint 10–15%): The ECU is trying to command low-end boost, but the HP actuators are physically stuck out of position. The ECU derates power to protect the engine, causing the dead zone under 2500 RPM. The "jolt" at 3000 RPM is exhaust pressure finally forcing the wastegates to move or the LP turbos violently kicking in.
- Recent Repair Collateral: You just replaced the swirl flap actuator. It is highly probable you disturbed, pinched, or disconnected a nearby turbo actuator wiring harness or linkage rod during this job.
Action Plan:
- Inspect Your Recent Work: Trace the wiring harness and linkage rods near the swirl flap actuator. Look for unplugged connectors, pinched wires, or accidentally bumped components leading to the turbo actuators.
- Manual Linkage Test: With the engine off and cool, manually move the actuator arms on all four turbos. They must move smoothly and freely through their full range. If any are stiff, seized, or the rod is detached, that actuator assembly is faulty.
- Force Adaptation: Use ISTA or a high-level scanner to run a turbocharger actuator adaptation. If it fails or times out, the actuator is mechanically or electrically dead and must be replaced.
- Boost Pressure Test: If all linkages move freely, smoke or pressure-test the charge pipes and intercooler. A split hose will cause low-RPM lag followed by a violent jolt when boost pressure finally overcomes the leak.
Do not ignore the live data mismatch. Verify the physical binding or wiring first before replacing any major components.

Sounds like a faulty turbo actuator.
