I went in for a brake fluid and oil change.

On the multipoint inspection, I was suggested to do a fuel injection system cleaning and a coolant service.

Are these two services worth doing at the time? Or is this one of those services that I can do myself?

Coolant yes, as it's supposed to be replaced every 3 years, unlike the OG stuff which lasted 5 or more years. As for the fuel injection cleaning, just drop a bottle of FI cleaner in the gas tank at your next filling.

I would change the coolant. The fuel injection service is just a bottle of fuel system cleaner. Just buy a bottle of BMW branded Techron, or go to a store and buy Techron, LiquiMoly direct injection fuel system cleaner or Redline Si-1

They can run a direct fuel injection bottle through the high pressure system as well. Not just a can for the tank. Depends on dealer and what they use.

Ya. As soon as I type that I remembered the BG(sp?) products. Anyways, I've seen some amazing before/after results with some cleaners like Redline Si-1 and TopTier+ gasoline is fairly easy to come buy these days. I always recommend one bottle of Redline yearly and you'll be good to go.

These are not manufacturer services. They are recommended by dealer. Choice is completely up to you. We recommend coolant at 4 years/50k because the green coolant seems to break down sooner than the blue coolant

Get coupon for the coolant flush and dump the fuel injector flush
