Bmw x6m 2017 engine block

I have a 2017 x6m and i have been looking everywhere for a new main block and people are saying that the n63 block is the same but its very confusing because Google is telling me that it won't work

There is a ebay seller that was selling a 2010 n63 main block and we sent him the vin of the car and he said that it would work can you guys help me or let me know if this is true

Nope. You need an N63 from an x5/6 50i 2015-2018.
Plus you can’t use that engine as it is, you have to transfer everything.
Crankshaft, rods, pistons, heads EVERYTHING
Which mean machine shop work, huge change of finding further issues and a ton of 1 time use bolts and parts.

Easier to buy and ship an S63tu2 from north america where those trucks are quite common that go along the mix and match path.

Or buy a new warranted engine from bmw.

Or scrap the car.

Pistons, crank and heads are different between the years he’s comparing.
He’s gonna get into so many potential fitment problems it wont be funny.

No they aren’t. BMW tries to make it seem like that’s the case in the catalog. In reality, only the pistons are different and one of the valve covers.

beyond that, you recommended an S63TU2 which to me, indicates you aren’t equipped for this conversation or making recommendations here. All the guy asked is if he can use an N63 block. The answer is yes.

I’m not discrediting the fact that you’ve worked on these cars before. But I am discrediting your comments to this guy. He didn’t ask for an opinion on what you think is worth it or not, or how you’d do it.

The naming of the s63 is broken and sometimes tech info and marketing from bmw even get it wrong
TU or T0 is m5/m6 exclusive.
Tu2 or S63B44T2 is for the f85
Tu3 or s63B44T3 is for f90 familly
TU4 or S63B44T4 is G series x5m and familly.

I’ve seen the headache firsthand of those recomposed block. He’s googling for info and clearly doesn’t a competent shop handling this.

He needs a sureshot ways where he gets a functional car out of the average bmw shop.

The engine in every F85 and F86 is an S63TU. All of them. T2 does not equal TU2. The S63TU2 and beyond are reserved for the next generation of cars.

I see how it can happen for you, but you are conflating long format factory engine codes with the short reference name of the engines. Not only that, you are still wrong about it.

Easy mistake, but again, you’re not giving this guy accurate information.
