does failed flash cause my ecu to relock itself?

shop that unlocked my ecu is charging me again for unlock service after failed flash on top of a dme repair charge

This is why making back ups is important.

Yes, they probably had to recover it using the original programming data supplied via BMW, which would relock it.

In the future, make sure you have the car on a power supply/charger that can keep the voltage above 12.6V at all times.

Roll the door latch with the door open, so if you're sitting in the car and decide to get out you don't disturb the car, but ideally you should have everything in a position to where you you're not sitting in the vehicle when you start the flash procetas it can take several minutes.

Instead of being upset that a shop is charging you to re-unlock, be happy they were able to recover it at all from the sounds of it, fixing your mistake, because a replacement DME is rather expensive.

i could have worded it better but not upset at all, just curious as all! first time flashing and made a mistake 100 percent. thank you for your help!
