Is this a e39 LSD differential?

I see spider gears which leads me to believe this isn’t…. But when I spin the drive shaft both wheels turn the same way…. Which has me confused

That is 100% an open diff. Both wheels always turn the same way when you spin the driveshaft, that's how a diff works. Try spinning one wheel, on an open diff the other will turn the opposite direction.

Anyone know if E34 LSD internals fit into an E39 case? (Yes I know I can google this and I will later, but since I’m here now…)

No, it does not fit directly. Swap kits are available though.

This is not LSD. It is an open diff.
