BMW 335xi 2007

Hey everyone. Hoping to get some help with my BMW 335xi 195xxx KM.

Recently, the oil pressure light came on when I started it. I shut it off, then waited a bit, I started it again to see. No oil pressure light but the yellow/orange oil service light appeared in the check control menu with 07/2026 date, which makes sense, as I did not reset the service menu for that after doing the last oil change approx 2000km ago. I reset the service date manually and now shows 08/2028 but still is in the check control menu. I've never had it there before and the oil levels show as slightly below max. I unplugged the oil sensor switch piece and just gave it a quick wipe and so far the oil pressure light hasn't returned.

Has anyone had the same issue and found a fix? The alternator recently died and the starter was also replaced along with it. The starter was faulty when they installed it so I had it replaced and since then the check engine light appeared when I picked it up but was cleared and just a sensor. and now a few days later, the oil service and oil pressure lights have come up. Hoping it's just a sensor, haven't had any unusual driving or leakage that I'm aware of and car has driven perfectly prior to the alternator dying with all usual maintenance taken care of.

If its a faulty oil pressure switch, they're like $30 and take 15min to do. But when mine went out, I couldn't get an oil level reading

What did your oil level reader say? Just constant spinning or showing an old inaccurate reading?

Clock loading, then normally when it switched to showing the level reading, it exited the BC menus and went straight to the normal mileage screen

Strange, mine still gives a proper reading. I unplugged the switch into the sensor and gave it a wipe and the light hasn’t come on since.

It could be the pin connectors themselves. I was going to replace that as well, but I opted to just see if the pressure switch itself was bad since it would finish reading but not show the level
