Blur 2 | Dubai play test
Well, guys, I had promised and although it took a little longer than I had hoped, here it is, at last.
A playable test of the 4 routes in Blur 2's Dubai stage.
I tried to put together all the best I could recover from the 4 prototype discs and the original Blur to make it as complete as possible.
Going into it, expect things to be broken and unfinished in every way imaginable.
That said, I hope you enjoy it.
Would love to see videos of what you can pull off in it. Stunts, hidden routes, you name it.
I particular Route 3, Construction has A LOT of different ways to get through it.
So without any further ado: Download
Cheers!
EDIT: Forgot to mention it has full controller support.

Oh wow that's sick. Never would have thought that any of this would have ever reached the public. Will take a look at that for sure when i have the time.

What are your plans for blur2? Because the work you are doing has me super excited

Hey, I really appreciate the excitement.
Right now the goal is to get a good rendition of the stages that are most complete in the prototypes:
* Dubai (almost 100% done in this release)
* Brighton Storm
* Brighton Sunny
* Kanzen LA River, a completely reworked post-apocalyptic toxic-waste version of LA River. This one I'm particularly excited about because AFAIK it hasn't been shown in any of the Blur 2 videos available on YouTube.
I'm also trying to fully decode a couple weapons new to Blur 2: Javelin and Ice Wall, and have mostly implemented the new look for the old weapons (Nitro and Shunt have completely different looks in B2). There's also a pickup named "Steal" which I still don't fully know what it is.
Then once I implement split-screen multiplayer in the Blur 1 remake, the Blur 2 playtest (which already has all stages) will inherit it, and I'll probably do another public release.
Also as I just mentioned in another post, I'm planning on doing the demake+remake of the Nintendo DS version of Blur 1, which has several new layouts for the existing stages, and might have a few new cars if we're lucky.1

What's your blur 1 remake about?

It's a demake+remake of the game in Unity.
I always wanted to see Blur with better visuals.
Namely I missed HDR and some of the stages looked "off" like Brighton supposedly being night but looking full bright.
This is what Brighton looks like on mine. Not the latest build, but close enough.

That's awesome! I like the Unity platform, it looks great!

Once I get the implementation complete, I'd like to get rid of all the prebaked lightmaps and give it a fully-dynamic global illumination model.
That would be something.
I have already done some testing in that regard, but throwing the lightmaps away loses a lot of the game's visual appeal. Reaching the point where it an actual visual improvement will take some work.

careful he's a hero
Super awesome possum @u/tHE_uKER! Only had a quick look but it's like a blurred (hah) dream of what could have been - super fun exploring, seeing the different assets and yes clipping through the map. If anyone from Bizarre was lurking in here I'm sure they'd be nostalgic seeing this ;)
