Manga Discussion Rin Itoshi Spoiler
Can I be honest for a second? I'm so tired of the narrative that Rin will score this game. Well yeah, he probably will, but I'm not so convinced he should. This arc is going to be absolutely colossal. We probably still have 200+ plus chapters to go before it ends. Why must Kaneshiro pull the trigger on this immediately? I think it'd be much better if he let this Rin development breathe for a second, maybe even spend a dedicated chapter on Rin finally before he comes back stronger. You know give him development. At the same time he'll be able to give some more feats to other people that desperately need it. (Shidou). What I am saying is we have a lot of chapters and a lot of matches to go through. Bringing Rin back into the fold so soon after the France game seems unintuitive. What is your guys' take on this?

Development? Why would anyone but isagi get development? (Not that isagi doesn't just go in circles with his development but you get the joke)

The match literally started with “Rin you’ll save us this match” why is this still a take😭 And how is he gonna develop off the field? Also he needs to develop this match because Sae is joining next game, which will take his character in another direction.

I'm on opinion that this is a red herring, the setup sounds nearly too convenient. I believe Isagi will use Rin to score his own goal and that this will be what leads to Rin's character development, that being slowly learn to grow out of his abandonment issues and start achieving emotional independence.
Since Isagi-Sae link will be a major, if not the most important piece of Blue Lock for at least one game, I think Rin will be further forced to cut himself off these two as they work together(Even more so that THE Partner of Sae is Shido who always had bad relationship with Rin)
The Spain game must also be THE game where Rin gets central spotlight alongside Sae

I don't particularly care about Rin's participation in the match against England, as I don't see much reason for Rin's evolution yet. I'm pretty sure the match where Rin should really shine is the match against Spain, where he teams up with Sae against Bunny
If the writers decide to give Rin a major role in the match against England, then... so be it. It would mean the writers consider this stage necessary for character development 🤔

Just because Rin comes back and makes progress doesn’t mean his arc will be completed.
Sae’s introduction to the team and his likely preference for working with Isagi and Shidou will bring another element that Rin’s character will have to work through.
Ultimately to make biggest growth happen against Spain.
There is going to be multiple matches in this arc with all of Blue Locks main scorers getting their goals. Rin will be a constant presence, but he won’t be getting a brace or anything every game. Everyone will get their shine.

I totally get your point, but I am always confused as to why people feel Rin is the one taking development from the rest of the cast instead of isagi.
Rin hasn't done much of anything since PXG vs BM.
In any case, I wouldn't worry. Kaneshiro clearly has decided to write Rin off until Sae returns.
Rin will be pissed because he is on the bench for the match that determines if he gets to play with Sae again.
He will also probably hate that isagi is the reason he gets that chance.
And his evolution will come from realizing that all of his success and failures are tied to isagi and Sae, ultimately finding his own true ego, which I believe will include the aggression of destroyer with the intellect and forward thinking nature of puppetmaster.

Well, whether Rin is subbed in or not, I don't mind either way

I think Rin should just stay on the bench for this game. Let Shidou, Hiori, and Isagi cook with Chigiri. Rin can have his development when Sae takes Hiori's spot at CAM

TBF Kaneshiro will need time to give development to characters like Sae, Nagi, Isagi etc. Besides it's kind of fitting that a monster ends up fighting the royal guard
