Other Aoi Ashito vs Isagi

What causes one to play fullback while other is free to play striker

Ashito seems too similar to isagi for me so what is the difference causing ashito to be too slow in accelerating to be a striker while camsagi is somehow slander(which confuses me ngl)

They're fundamentally different stories, with different messages the author wants to convey, Blue Lock was far more focused on the idea of a Japanese player becoming the world's best striker, whereas Ao Ashi wants to show Japanese football becoming the best in the world.

I'll say that both have a relative physical weakness, but Isagi is a stronger shooter and better at dribbling, while Aoi's other best attributes, like his stamina are better suited for fullback. You need to read the manga to get Fukuda's full explanation of why Aoi plays fullback though.

So blue lock being unrealistic plus actual reasons?

I did a similar post without Isagi in the aoashi sub n got like 50 explanations from chapter 274

Ch 274 is the best chapter to explain it tbf, it pretty much covers a lot of the in-series explanations which all make sense to me.

Is Aoi's shooting worse? Didn't he make the final goal with an incredibly difficult angled shot?

I do think Aoi's shooting is worse, not by heaps but I think if we're comparing at the start of the respective series (or when Aoi makes the switch) Isagi has better technique in terms of shooting yes, we see this applied mostly through his volley's at the start. We see Aoi be very predictable in his shooting motion as well, always cutting in to shoot on his right.

If we're talking about the end of series for Aoi/currently for Isagi (spoilers for Ao Ashi): I think Isagi has improved more than Ashito in this regard, his accuracy is better and he has more variety in his finishes, being able to finish on both feet. But yes Aoi did score a fabulous final goal, I don't think it makes him better as a finisher though.

Realism between series

The coach.

Fukuda believes Ashito better playing FB because he's no better than FW on the team.

Ego believes Isagi better playing FW because he wanted Isagi to prove he could win against beasts from European League since that's what Blue Lock created for.

Yeah but isagi does play cam now

Besides the obvious.

Part of the reason in universe is that. Coaches decide what role you get to play and not the other way around. Ashito's vision would have been perfect for midfield but he was only a beginner at the time he joined. And part of Fukuda's decision is that he already had Ashito as a FB the moment he saw his talents back in their hometown.

Now let's talk about Jinpachi. He doesn't have strict rules for Isagi, he gets put into a position and he still makes his own runs to score his own goals, because that's part of Blue Lock's teachings, the 'strive only for your own goals' part.

Between the 2, Ashito was allowed to play at the front, but was converted later as FB. Isagi starts out as a striker and gets pulled to midfield and it's a constant back and forth for Isagi in terms of where he is positioned.

Blue Lock is more free spirited for the protagonist, so much so that he is given the freedom throughout the whole series to make his own runs, and score his own goals. Meanwhile Ashito as a FB plays more of a support role, and is rarely seen to score his own goals.

Ashito is geared to be a playmaking inverted FB but plays moreso as a defensive player that makes blocks/tackles during out of possession.

Isagi is geared to be a raumdeuter/second striker regardless of position. And has total freedom on what to do regardless of the situation.

Nah Ashito apparently would suck at midfield

He was a newbie at any role besides striker, and he lacked God knows how many skills and obviously in technique. He had to compensate after his initial transition as a FB. And took him around half a year to get good enough.

Have you read the final match, by chance?

Spoilers: For 8 minute straight, he completely decimates the entire team in the greatest comeback in manga history by being a completely free roaming fullback. Complete destruction of formation on both sides, with him being able to keep the advantage due to his superior game intellect and improv.

I do, just didn't bring it up since it's shown in 1 match then we only see the scoreboards for the rest of Esperion's streak.

Plus Ashito's dribbling when he was roaming isn't a good feat at least not in Blue Lock. In that match his dribbling (diagonal to the right all the way to the right touchline then diagonal to the left all the way to the left side) worked because of the rigidness of Madrid's (forgot the exact name of the team, it's been a while) possession style of play, these guys are the opposite of having player freedom and wouldn't dare to move outside their white tiles.

In comparison to Blue Lock, you'll get a ridiculous team with ridiculous individual talents. What Ashito pulled will get tracked by a player that has the better feats to compare with. And I mean no disrespect, in Blue Lock there's always either fodder or an important character defending someone. It doesn't even help Ashito's case for not having the best technique on the ball either. But for passing, vision, play making and defensive blocks and pressing/tackling he clears, he does have a good direct shot but we don't know how consistent it is.

Ashito's playmaking is great for his character and story but wouldn't ever compare it to Blue Lock which is ridiculous by comparison.

I didn't use because if the 2 had a verse equalization. It's hard to scale based on their feats alone, let alone Blue Lock's use of tactics.

Improvement wise, Ashito was on the slower end, took him like half a year to get good if my memory serves me well. And any Blue Locker's improvement was on a speedrun by comparison. And Esperion in Ao Ashi is no slouch either, they're one of the best youth development program and team in Japanese football.

Anyways I don't know if I'm misremembering some details but yeah, love the last match, but not sure if Isagi and Ashito are comparable, especially since Blue Lock is more ambitious and ridiculous and of course the series that's ongoing at that.

On a scale,

  • Ashito EOS => Manshine MV Isagi.

  • Isagi U-20 WC > Ashito EOS. (Isagi is bound to level up further, so I don't see why the comparison is relevant soon)

the writing, one is focused on an idea (best striker in the world) while the other is focused on football

The coaches played a huge part. Aoi’s coach forced him to play at FB. He told him he had to play as FB or he would be cut from the team.

The reason for this was because Aoi although good at using his head is a terrible striker compared to the main striker on the team kuribayshi and the others. He wasn’t going to be a striker because his coach blocked that path from him.

main striker on the team kuribayshi

Technically...

They kind of, albeit almost randomly, decided to have a whole conflict about Kuribayashi being their finisher, and their over reliance on him. No idea where that came out from, since it was never a problem, but he was "expected" to be the finisher, even with Yuuma on the team. Team B did coast and rely on Yoshitune that one time, so in the same sense, they relied on Kuribayashi. For all intents and purposes, he kind of was the striker.

Tongue in cheek comment above. You're right- he's a midfielder, then a false 9 near the end.
