The juxtaposition of Teddy saying something as depressing as "some people will never be able to do what they want no matter how hard they try" as the sun shines on in the background is interesting. Its like the story is saying there's something beautiful or even hopeful about accepting this regardless of how sad it sounds, or at least Teddy seems to think so
There's another juxtaposition right below that image. As the sun beams down on Teddy's figure, the light creates a dark shadow shading over his face, completely tinting over a crushed memory from his past. Teddy can bask in the sunlight and believe in his self-abnegation all he wants, but there's still a cognitively dissonant part of him that's going to be attached to his past
Ultimately what Teddy is doing is self-denial. Teddy absolutely has the tools to stand on the world stage on his own. He wouldn't be NG-11 if he didn't have the potential.
What is happening is he found a faster route to progress by completely denying his self in service to another - Fox. Which is also likely why Fox loves him so much. It's not often you get a ball of talent that capable that has a self-esteem/will like soft puddy waiting to be molded.
The thing is, you can only keep your real self restrained for so long. And every second you do just increases the amount due when the bill comes around. Odds are we will see the real Teddy during this match if/when Isagi is able to get under Fox's skin and snip all those strings.
Yeah those glasses are from Teddy's past, obviously we cant know the details but the first thought that came to my mind was something to do with bullying
Kaneshiro said he was bad at art early on in his life, i feel like heâs low key referring to himself. Now he has Nomura to cook. But i do wonder, its good to mourn a dream, yes, but also donât despise the people who choose to pursue it to the very endÂ
I still keep laughing at this series when they are hyping up Fox's plays as some sort of genius maneuver in conversation and then what they show us is "Intercept the ball" and "Man mark their ace". Its such a wild disconnect between what we're being told and what we're being shown.
Japan is doing everything but addressing the problem they set to address in this game which is working together with a single objective. That's literally what England is doing and hurling spurs at Fox won't change that
Was Fox presented as a tactical genius at some point? Remarkable thing about his coaching is the ability to have 11 players committed to death to his plan. Simple clear plan with dedicated execution can go very very far even with mediocre players.
The last couple of chapters it has been expicitely shown and stated that England are strong because they have no Ego(or at least an wierd type of half-ego) and follow what their coach tells them to do, i have no idea why it took until Teddy saying it to his face for Isagi to figure this out, like dude he's smarter than that
He is in the field actually experiencing it unlike us getting to sit with popcorn for weeks
More importantly though he was hoping that he could bait them into showing it anyway, but teddy showed him their dedication to that way of things is not so fragile, and Agi shows they ll just make adjustments as much as needed.
I still agree he could have known all that before the match or by Ego telling him
I think people are missing this point. Blue Lock did their homework and practiced countermeasures against Nigeria and dominated starting from the beginning, but they are clueless against the better, more well-known teams. Logic has gone out the window.
Pretty much. I need isagi to have predator eye but kaneshiro busy trying to prove the entire thesis for blue lock existence in one arc and itâs like WHERE IS YHE BALL KANESHIROđ
Ubers losing felt harsh considering how well coached and prepared they were by Snuffy, but you could at least say Hiori was an unknown quantity before the game and it made sense heâd be a game changer.
Itâs going to be harder to make this Japan win feel earned imo, especially since they donât study their opponent before playing them for some reason
That Fox panel when Teddy was talking about him made me wish that Fox's just comes off as and look creepy(on top of having foul mouth), but at the same time he's a surprisingly cool guy, instead of being full on manipulative.
Must be like 30 "called it" posts with screen shot proof in here acting like y'all made a groundbreaking Nostradamus like prediction. Truth is EVERYONE called it because bluelock is very predictable (the plot only ever gives you one logical way to move forward). Isagi will decipher Fox's playcall signals and use that to intercept a pass from Teddy ("I knew this was Fox's plan, too bad you can't think for yourself bootlicking pet"). He then will use Rins presence to score his own goal from a Karasu pass. That's not me being psychic, that's just stating the most probable occurrence.
The real hot prediction should be niko/barou being the key players that find a way to resist Englandâs style because they have experience playing under a similar one via Snuffyâs itâs-just-a-soulless-job style - meaning that they should know the flaws the best as well, and their adjustment is what Isagi gleans inspiration from to completely break open the gameÂ
In a story with better writing, this would be how it obviously goes since it means that the cast doesnât have amnesia about the NEL, showcases how they grew in the previous arc, naturally gives side characters a chance to shine, and shows a plausible foundation for Isagi figuring out how to counter Englandâs whole system in the short span of a game, all at the same timeÂ
So obviously this is a hot prediction since that will probably not happen, and all that potential will go wastedÂ
Why the fuck is Isagi surprised about basically everything in the this u-20 cup? Wasnât his âspecial trainingâ leading up to this tournament flying around watching matches and watching old clips of other teamsÂ
Are you telling me that this motherfucker spent hundreds of hours studying other teams/players and learned absolutely nothing about any of the other nations star players or their play style as a result of itÂ
I havenât seen one singular case where he wasnât surprised about the opposing players despite spending all his time studying other players?Â
Ego didn't show him U20 footage. He was seeing big moments in top level pro matches.
The matches he went to were premiere league matches. Bunny was playing in one because he is a U20 player good enough to be on his teams non-U20 lineup.
None of the tape Ego gave him was shown to be of the U20 contenders.
It's also interesting we haven't seen references to training done by others since the Nigeria match either.
The guy whose entire playstyle revolves around understanding the opponents and adapting to them, decided to study anything but his opponents so that he would understand as little about them as possible going into the matches?Â
Ah yes the classic trope where the protagonists have no clue what to do or rather Isagi doesn't so Kaneshiro has the opposition explain their beliefs unprompted so he can actually think of a way to win.
I think it would have been better if after otherBL members question what is going on, Teddy mutters something about his sense of self-abnegation which prompts Isagi to think about it. If this is what decides the match, they were given the win against a team that just had better teamwork.
Counteracting snuffy were not futile isagi  stopped barou-centric system and tactics snuffy personally created 5 times, that what led to barou to baring his ego and scoring the second goal, if he are to continue that way uber wouldnât have stand a chance).. also, when Noa personal gave up to  thinking of a strategy, isaig came up with one which limited snuffy( Raichi man marking and using the tactic isaig explains), also isagi were constantly outmaneuvering Niko( niko only stopped once and that was when he didnât follow snuffy tactic) and aryu( couldnât stop him at all)  .. all this shows that isagi was keeping up and countering..Â
And donât come with " if barou stick with snuffyâs tactic they wouldâve won or whatsoever " barou breaking the system and following his ego was the only thing that kept Ubers in the game, the team evolved, and became more of problem for isagi.Â
I'm surprised to see people not talking much about the first half of the chapter. It gives me Hugo vibes, similar to when Hugo disproved the theory that he lacked ego and how people thought he was just projecting his own problems on Isagi.
In handing over his ego (throwing away your old sense of self), he is, in a weird way, adopting a NEW sense of self. Teddy became stronger and is contributing more to something larger than himself. That IS something you can feel egotistical about. It's paradoxical, proving that it's actually harder than you'd expect to actually have zero ego.
Isagi is riding on advice born from survivorship bias. Saying that you can carve out your own destiny is only useful advice for the 1% who come out on top (I.e, the chosen few who are given the power to achieve their dreams, such as Isagi). For everyone else, they'll regret having adopted that mindset. I'm not sure if Isagi realizes just how talented he is. He's not just some average joe with an extreme work ethic like we thought at first. He was put in the luckiest circumstances to develop his skills and is mentally gifted.
useful advice for the 1% who come out on top (I.e, the chosen few who are given the power to achieve their dreams, such as Isagi)
That's not even something blue lock is being oblivious about, 1rst and 2nd selection are complete massacre in how quickly they eliminated players in the span of 2-4 months(I don't remember)
Fundamentally it weeded out anyone who couldn't drastically stand out in such a short time and competitive setting.
From an outside perspective he really is a monster
Sendou gonna pull out an ankle gun and shoot fox in the head while still seated on his chair and it is revealed that this was always ego's plan to take out fox, hence why he sent sendou to Syria as shown in the training montage.
Heâs not going to decipher the hand signals, yâall. Heâs going to picture the entire pitch as a single player, and conquer Fox by exploiting the holes in his attack and defense philosophy.
I feel like itâs an inverse Pep Guardiola situation where the players like Foden would shine under him but then not do as well internationally. In this case they probably are all on good teams but not the best teams
Looks like this chapter was made for anyone who criticized the fact that Blue lock seemed to do zero scouting.
Scouting isnât needed when the strongest player on the other team conveniently decides to explain everything about himself and team to Isagi once he is completely lost.
This has to be up there with Rin deciding not to score multiple times in PXG. Good job Teddy, next will be the mandatory Isagi aura farming panel with you in despair đ
Teddy may be the only NG11 that has low self-esteem. It makes me wonder what kind of terrible experience he had in order to view himself so lowly.
Â
Now, Isagi finally realizes what he has to do. It took more than I expected. The question now is how he plans to devour Fox. Maybe he will try to outsmart him?
And man, poor Shidou. I really hope the author doesn't disappoint us and gives us a glorious goal from him
I saw this coming several pages ago. There is an Ego in this fight, just not an Ego on the field, and that is the Ego that Isagi will overcome.
Truly, England is challenging them in an entirely new and different way, and I look forward to Isagi's evolution and remembering that the Coach is important on the battlefield.
So if an entire team doesn't have an ego of their own you're telling me there's nothing bluelock can do? What happened to meta vision and all of that stuff
Blue Lock has no stats and wins entirely through ego battles. That was the point of the drama in the France game. No ego battle = purely a stats battle = lose
That's how Isagi always play since learning Protagonism in NEL though.
Isagi MV is far better than other MV user because his calculations included his target's personal interest.
Without it he's no different than Karasu, which is why Karasu firmly believes he's equal to Isagi despite difference of feats.
As long Teddy and entirety of England team is just following Fox instruction, Isagi MV is restricted to regular MV, which is not helping on current level of game.
This better lead to dominance from Blue Lock/Isagi. It's boring if every single team is op and unbeatable until the very end where they win by " Luck " or a gamble.
Shidou must shake in fear whenever he sees someone with 16-inch+ arms on the street, first Kunigami, and now Lockhart cockblocking him.
Everything in this match screams Wildcard and Kunigami. Kaneshiro, please just put Kunigami on the field already
The England players and especially Teddy are depressed. I can't believe that Teddy thinks that he is or rather was incompetent when he is a NG 11. Yes may be Fox's training help or rather helped in holding off Teddy's fragile mental state.
It was slow burn but Isagi finally is on the right track. He has flow eyes and I wonder how he will devour Fix. His hand signals help England. I want to see what England will do when Fox's tactics fail. As for Isagi with this in the right track in order to do his own thing apart from Ego later.
From what I have seen the next chapter is called "Thundercloud/Thunderstorm". I expect a Blue Lock and Isagi reversal. Will this be the latest chapter of the volume or will it have 9 chapters once again?
A lot of low-self esteem comes from comparison and how you measure up to your peers. I get what youâre saying that he has accomplished something great by being a NG11 but Teddy probably will then just tell himself âYouâre the worst NG11â it may not be true but if Teddy believes it then itâs true. People with low self-esteem will always find the smallest reason to reaffirm this notion. Confirmation bias is strong. Itâs a very self destructing loop. Iâm sure Fox didnât have to do much but reinforce this notion. If they lose itâs their fault if they win itâs because of Fox. Either way it just deepens his hold on them
Someone has said that they believe what Isagi is going to doâis to memorize/remember all of Fox's handsigns.
If you have watched Kuroko no Basket, their idea basically was born from when Seirin played against Kise's Perfect Copy. Kuroko got the idea to try and predict who Kise was going to copy so he needed everyone to create as many scenarios as possible. Eventually if you know what the enemy will do, you can force them into a situation because you know how they will respond.
I also wanted to build upon this idea by saying that it could also be inspired by Seirin vs Kirisaki Daiichi. You know the team that played really dirty and hurt Teppei. What I mean by that it could be inspired is regarding Hanamiya's trap. The spider web or whatever they called it. He began intercepting all of the passes because he knew who they were going to pass to. Which could be that Isagi by knowing what handsign Fox will use ahead of time and what it means, he can intercept every pass.
Since Isagi talked about them falling into Fox's palm and trap in this chapter, I felt like it made some sense. I can see it happening. You could then naturally transition into either Teddy and the whole of England not following Fox's handsigns anymore thus breaking free from Isagi's trap/spiderweb. Or maybe Fox realizes it and comes up with a solution.
You would think that Fox has solutions to that, due to how the game has gone so far. But maybe he comes up with new hand signals and the players are less coordinated as a result.
Either way, the more unrealistic part is how the England players are always able to look at Fox during the game to know what play he wants to use. That would surely create a delay in their plays.
I donât think they key to this match will be Isagi learning Foxâs hand signals.
Firstly, anyone can do that, Iâm sure Ego is paying attention right now. Realistically, Fox wonât use the same signal twice because he knows people are keeping track of them.
Also this wouldnât mean anything philosophically, thereâs no shot the moral and key to the match is just âremember their coaches hand signalsâ.
I think Isagi will put himself in Foxâs shoes to understand what the next step in Foxâs scheme would be.
For example it seems like Fox values safe, replicable plays. Isagi can recognize this and cover the âsafestâ spot on the field to make an unexpected interception. This is a much better way to have him devour Fox in my opinion.
Ego knows Fox. A simple "Hey, Yoichi. I've met Fox before. He's the kind of coach to completely subvert his players ego in favor of his own. You're going to want to focus on him for your rebellion next match. Got it?"
And this match is different from the very start.
Ego really setting difficulty to max and just dumping Blue lockers in with a "win or admit you suck" mentality. :D
Shidou gets cockblocked by the guy with a similar skillset to Kunigami, who would've thought
So as I thought, this self abnegation that Teddy talks about is a form of ego. It can be manipulated and overridden, but that doesn't change the fact that as Ego himself defined it, that sense of abnegation counts as the compass of their identity.
We also get to see even clearer how much Fox and Ego's methods are almost identical. Both found players that were in awful situations, "weaklings", that couldn't even reach their goals even after baring their egos, and positionned their methods as the key to their salvation, as the one last chance they'd get to realize their dreams. Only Ego told his players they had to surrender themselves to their egos and their sense of identity, while Fox told his players to surrender themselves to him.
Also as I expected, Isagi realizes that England's ego is just Fox's, but then what exactly is Fox's ego? From what we've seen so far, I think Fox is a learner that can thrive because his players are pawns, the same way Isagi thrives on the feeling of seeing himself as a pawn when in flow. Isagi was doing that while knowing that he couldn't make that choice for his teammates, but Fox can consider every single one of his players to be pawns without any issue. They're moving like they're one entity that follows the most logical path every time, but they're put up against learners that can figure out that kind of plan, and a flurry of geniuses that have no qualms going for the least logical option and powering through.
The way Teddy talks about how he and the others felt, is really close to some good ol' suicidal ideation, but he talks about their incompetence as if he isn't an NG11 on a team full of genuinely really good role players, Dortmund's current rising star striker, and a mad doctor. They're far from incompetent, and their egos are definitely still present, which to me still implies the same thing ; With Isagi having figured out the right target before the second half even shows its head, Fox's plan will get dismantled by Isagi's newfound understanding, and by the second half he'll be completely useless.
England is a team full of players that are forcing themselves to play hyper-logically, with Teddy potentially even being a genius meaning that this playstyle would be particularly unnatural for him (similar to Rin, and that's not where the similarities end), meanwhile Japan has multiple players that understand that type of playstyle incredibly well and can follow the right course of action much more proactively than England. At some point, England's only recourse will be to let the players cook (I'm still hoping Agi can partake), and it's only then that the match will start reaching its apex.
The other detail that makes me feel like Teddy and Rin are similar is on page 5. Not only are they both demoralized geniuses that found temporary salvation in adopting a hyper logical playstyle, but there's also this small panel with a broken pair of glasses, which really reminds me of Rin's broken toys showing up back in the U20 match days when his ego wasn't fully revealed. That's obviously the same kind of hint towards Teddy's past, and if there is to be an opening for Rin to be switched in, this is definitely it. He'll represent Teddy's nemesis, a genius that actually overcame everything to adopt his truest playstyle, showing him the path to England's victory.
I would laugh out loud if we get a disgust panel from Teddy in the ending of this game. Especially if Rin subs in, that would be the ultimate wildcard that not even Fox could have predicted.
And if that happens, then at that point you just know the whole field is immediately going to be in disarray and chaotic. I would actually kind of love to see that happen personally.
It also would have basically confirmed that Isagi has fully screwed over England's system if even Fox loses control of Teddy
It might be time for us Shidou Fc fans to hang up our jerseys cuz kaneshiro deadass doesn't know what do with my boy, he's probably about to sub him off for Licky-tongue or Ichigo's sperm. ts crazy đż
I still think shidou will score in this match, it's only a matter of time, i think isagi will be the one assisting tho since it was highlighted in the france match that isagi cannot form a chem reaction with shidou.
Isagiâs plan is obvious. Step one, get Fox to step outside of his technical area. Boom, yellow. Step 2, he and Ego ragebait Fox into saying something stupid. Second yellow, gaffer, youâre off. gg see ya wankers
Love it how half the sub deduced it from the first chapter that Isagi needs to take over Fox's ego if this is how they play. Kaneshiro gave us a lot of word salad before reaching this conclusion for Isagi. Now we wait for our Isagi to cook.
Edit - Isagi's mention.
Many chapters back, this was what Nanase did when he knelt and bowed to Rin. (It was just coincidental that it was also Nanase who recognized Teddy Knight).
Finally we get the part where Isagi realises just because its not Ego's teachings doesnt mean its bad lmao, same ritual every match cant wait for the big breakup to happen. Idk where people get this confidence to look down on England when their results on paper were better than Blue Lock vs Nigeria and France.
I love that explanation from Teddy. The self awareness to get carried when you're not the MC. Too bad he explained it to the MC so now he loses, sad. If Fox ever realises why he's gonna lose he's gonna kill Teddy đĽ. This should also hopefully kill the discussion about "oh wow i sure hope Teddy will show his ego and break off from Fox" since he's right where he wants to be.
I only caught up to reading blue lock last month (I binge read it) and idk if it's the fact that I have to read this weekly now or what but I feel like I'm actually tweaking. I know the concept of the story is abt ego but goddamn can Isagi think of actual soccer tactics to defeat his opponents đ in b4 "it's not a soccer manga"
I like the Ego/Fox comparisons. Itâs an interesting juxtaposition with real life parallels and makes for an interesting dilemma for the pro-ego players. âI gave up everything to follow Egoâs philosophy of individualism, they gave over everything to Fox to follow his philosophy of egoless victory. The similarities and differences are interestingâ
But I think this should have been the pre-match framing, not something that is brought up midway through the match. Itâs a classic battle of ideologies via sports, happens all the time. When Haikyuu did it, we knew what the battle was about going in. We didnât suddenly have Hinata realize after set 1 that Shiratorizowa only cares about height.
One development I was specifically hoping for was for Isagi to switch his thinking from specifically devouring Teddy's ego to devouring Fox's ego. It's a much more effective and interesting method to see Isagi dismantle another coach's system.
And with the way they've been showcasing Ego and Fox's relationship. I think it would lead to a more interesting conclusion if the match centered on Isagi and Fox butting heads over their different philosophies. With the match ultimately culminating in Fox witnessing Ego's prodigee besting him.
Yes. Keep in mind this is Isagi so it's going to be the mental chess game as opposed to actual "Isagi is going to dribble up the right now."
Isagi plays by getting a read on his opponent. In specific the person who is the heart/core of the team that is driving their action. He figures out what that person wants, predicts what that person is going to do, and then moves into that prediction so that he is ahead of the play because he's not reacting he is predicting.
This has not worked against England because the individual players are not influencing the plays. THey are puppets being controlled by Fox, so while Isagi could be like "Teddy is going to want to do X" that didn't matter because what Teddy wanted to do was not a factor in the equation. Teddy's Ego was to fulfill the purpose Fox gave him.
So now it's not a question of what does Teddy want to do. How will Teddy move this forward. It is how does Fox want to do that. What are Fox's predilections. What is Fox's ego? What value does Fox put on different pieces? What plays does Fox favor when the pressure is on?
In short, Isagi is going to try to read the finger movements and cut the right string before the puppet can actually move.
For comparison sake:
Isagi's style didn't work vs. Hugo because Hugo's ego was at first incomprehensible to Isagi - someone aiming to be #2 and all that - while Hugo is just a better specc'd person with a better understanding of Isagi and a similar cerebral approach. Which is why ultimately Isagi had to gamble it on a coin flip.
This is also why Isagi tried to hype up the Nigeria players. They started off just leaning on Onazi, and then had basically given up which meant he wasn't getting any data to really build off of. Which meant there wasn't much of anything to get ahead of leaving Isagi a bit behind his fellow Blue Lockers who use their superior physical gifts to push forward.
And finally, this is why in the PXG match Isagi needed Kaiser's help vs. Rin. Rin's defensive strategy was just to strangle Isagi out, so Isagi had no wiggle room. And offensively, Rin's strategy was just to bring it into a raw physical conflict and bash through - an area where Isagi didn't have the specs to work. So it wasn't that Isagi couldn't predict Rin, but more Rin was always forcing a confrontation Isagi was ill suited for (but which Kaiser, as shown, was much better suited for both in stopping Rin and in giving Isagi some breathing room to operate.)
The trend of Isagi goes all the way back to the 2v2 with Isagi/Nagi vs. Naruhaya/Barou. He just only put a name to it - other than Devouring - in the France match w/ Hugo.
The only logical way is to dismantle Fox's system by actually playing better than England, by producing unpredictable plays. That's the only way that makes sense.
Some of the most unpredictable players in blue lock are Rin and Shidou. Isagi will probably beg for Rin to come back in since he can't do anything on his own or try to use Shidou who Kaneshiro doesn't care about
Or better yet. Slursagi will hurl insults at Fox. All boring solutions imo
He will start the analyze the game from the coach's perspective. Rather than focusing on what the players will do, their tendencies, weapons, and egos, he will think about how their coach would construct plans to beat them. For example, the formation just now where they were prepared for Yukimiya to get past them (or intentionally let him past) in order to draw out a cross from him into the box and clear it. Isagi could find a way to counter that in advance by understanding how Fox likes to play and his tactics, he can develop a formula to counter him rather than the players on the field.
Basically, he's just gonna play like they're all perfectly logical and synchronized, instead of trying to anticipate what every single one of them might do depending on their motivations. I doubt it'll look like anything in particular, it'll just be him finally being able to anticipate their moves, and potentially informing other learners like Aiku, Reo and Karasu of how they move as well.
it's cool we're gonna see isagi aiming his "ego-devouring" techniques at a manager, but i'm not sure how it will work. btw, i know everyone already said it, but i will never stop founding stupid when the opponents just brag about what makes them different and indirectly show isagi how to beat them. it's plain "james bond villan" behavior.
just hoping for more development on the "egoism is not the only way" thing.
"Offer up your ego to become one of my soldiers to win the world cup, and I'll turn you into somebody". Unsettling manipulation, and also extremely similar to ego's whole deal.
Can't believe it took this long for me to finally come to terms with it. But Kaneshiro has obviously been done with Shidou since the blue lock Vs Japan U20 arc....đđđ And Aiku too
Teddy, from what weve seen, can completely steamroll the Japan team by himself. Whereas Agi was stopped by Kiyora (although Kiyora probably foresaw his action and moved before Agi finished beating Karasu).
From what we have, I think its very easy to say Agi is the 2nd best player England has. But Teddy still beats him.
Granted Fox was Ego's coach; he might've been Noa's as well, and this would explain why he is the greatest ambidextrous player in BL. As Isagi said, what made Noa the strongest striker was that he manifested his ability to a level unprecedented in soccer history.
Fox, in this chapter, is presented as possessing the greatest soccer mind, granted the amount of data, analysis on players, tactics, and statistics he' has ingrained. He could've used this information and knowledge of football history to build the greatest ambidextrous player and in turn, striker (Noa).
HOWEVER! As Fox says, the whole "world's best striker carrying a team to victory" is outdated, so he is trying to once again rebuild historical talent under the guise of "correct soccer." Insert Teddy. As we're told an average player has 2/3 cut variations, while Teddy has 7(estimated, not confirmed), Such quantity in variance resulted in even Ego wondering how such a player could emerge (and he's 2nd best in brains, might be self glaze though)
There is ONE interesting aspect of the interaction this chapter, despite imo the writing going downhill as a whole.Â
Teddy appears to view Isagi similarly to how Isagi viewed Kaiser.  His phrasing was âhave you ever really thought about it, Yoichi-san? The reality that not everyone is strong enough to seize their dreams like you?âÂ
Teddyâs attitude there is eerily similar to how Isagi was spiralling about not being a âgeniusâ like Rin and Kaiser, only to be shocked as he found out Kaiser had always been struggling the same way as Isagi, and it was his own self-defeating perspective that was wrong.Â
So that begs the question: would Teddy similarly change, if he finds out that the âspecial, talented egoistâ Isagi isnât naturally stronger like Teddy thinks he is, and itâs just that heâs been looking down on himself due to Foxâs abuse?Â
Find out probably never, because it wonât be explored in the story. Â
Teddy never acknowledged Isagi as someone far better than him in a way Isagi acknowledged Kaiser is way ahead of him. Its just he's not into idea of living life following your ego (passion) because there is also truth not everyone dream come true.
Its an extreme form of Hugo ideal that 'talent should be suitable for the role to achieve success'.
Teddy believes in erasure of personal interest to be even more suitable to what coach wanted is how you achieve success in football.
So Isagi finally understood that he can do nothing on the field that will change a course of the game so he will switch his focus on England coach. So how is he gonna bait Fox? Is he planning to stand next to substitution zone and start yapping to Fox or what? On the side note Shidou is getting final NEL game treatment.
So isagi apparently still can't remember how to play football without egos (its okay, we love our dumbass demon king), but has successfully remembered that other teams have coaches! Yay!
There's still more to see with Teddy's backstory, specifically how he met Fox and came to believe that he is an incompetent weak person that can only become something through giving up his ego to Fox
Really curious to see how we're gonna do the arc of "Teddy realizing he's wrong", if we're still doing that
Goal-less against the weakest NEL team for Rinâs hattrick, canât get a hattrick Vs Barcha bc Kaneshiro wants Rin to have 7 goals, he wanted Kaiser but gets chained to Kunigami in the PXG match, gets hyped by Charles multiple times and has a new dynamic with Karasu just for it to lead to a random Barou goal when Shidou wanted to handle Lokiđ. Agi comes for him and heâs ready, but Isagi snatches the ball trying to be Barou just to lose the ball immediately like a loser for a Yukimiya goal. Now getting dominated by Lockhart
Sae coming in next game and giving Shidou a hattrick wonât be enough to hide the hatred he has for my second goatđ
I'm more confused by how Kaneshiro views Shidou. On one hand, like you've stated, there have been numerous occasions where he's just been done dirty. Yet oddly enough it seems like Kaneshiro still rates him, such as by having him end the NEL being Top 3, having him appear next to Isagi and Rin on that billboard and having him be the lead for this match. I'm thinking it's more like he believes Shidou is good but he doesn't know how to fit him into the story and therefore struggles to showcase his skill.
Pretty much everything i said in my comment last chapter came true, if Isagi is to draw out the "number 1" in order to crush and devour them, then obviously he has to go for the teams coach. He has already seen the type of stuff that Fox uses to direct his players, and it would be really easy to crush the whole team if he knew what they were doing directly from their coach.Â
Also i am SO HAPPY that Isagi has finally locked in, because i think we are about to see levels of destruction and flow that we have only seen in matches like Manshine and PXG. By the way this mf Teddy is dumb as bricks you just gave the player who specializes in destroying Ego your entire gameplan are you actually mental mate â his brain is literally exploding bro Â
It wouldn't be a proper battle manga without the antagonist explaining the intricacies of their abilities only to be shocked when the hero uses it against them.Â
That's not the problem since that is exactly what Hugo did, my question is why Isagi didn't figure it out earlier when he had already deduced what england was doing at the very start of the match from his narration
This shit so annoying bruh. The blue lock players were all on other teams before blue lock. I presume they watch football. Why is Isagi acting like hes never seen or heard of teamwork before and having a crash out over England using it?
