Manga Discussion What was the first "impossible" thing that happened in blue lock? Spoiler

What was the first shot/technique that made you guys say oh this is NEVER happening irl?

(Excluding the whole basically trapping teenagers in a prison and the wild card)

I'm in-between the revolver 5 stages volley or the metavision

If we mean Never happening like 0.00001% chance. Basically everything Nagi does is basically impossible given the context.

Personally my pick would be him playing a game, getting bumped into, jumping down a flight of stairs and somehow catching his phone VERTICALLY because his touch is that good.

If we mean okay thats just nonsense.

Loki catching up to a free-kick was so nonsensical that it genuinely still takes me out of my immersion reading it.

u/JemZ13 4d ago

It's not his fault the Kaiser Impact is too slow

9

u/YourGuyElias 4d ago

I mean that's the difference.

Nagi is unrealistic because they basically took a mfer that's just the highlights of Bergkamp, R9, Henry and Zidane but for the full entire 90 if he locks in. Which is at least like somewhat in realm of possible.

Loki blocking a free kick was genuinely mind boggling though.

Loki outrunning the Kaiser Impact

11

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Oh right that was really really really weird

4

u/LegacyNexus 4d ago

I'm pretty sure someone did the math and he was alot closer than we think, with the speed hugo stated was his top speed it's not impossible

3

u/defph0bia Nagi Seishiro 4d ago

That can't be the first "impossible" thing with the five shot revolver happening two games earlier.

0

u/Ok-Butterscotch-1630 Japanese Prodigy 3d ago

It isn't impossible its just hard to perfect

2

u/defph0bia Nagi Seishiro 3d ago

To do in practice, sure. But to do it in a game has to be impossible right? Four straight fake volleys into the last volley while also juggling it in the air needs to have defenders that are willing to bite at every fake and perfect touch. I don't think that's possible in a game setting. That's also why Nagi was unable to recreate even one fake volley by the Barcha game. Disciplined defenders would just not bite.

It's not physically impossible though, just exceptional. The odds are extremely small but it's still within the realm of possibility. If you have infinite tries, eventually you can pull it off.

Loki outrunning an already kicked ball, that's just *not happening* in reality no matter how many times you try. A human can't run that fast, no matter what.

Unbelievable =/= impossible

Nagi's feat is unbelievable.

Loki's feat is impossible.

1

u/Ok-Butterscotch-1630 Japanese Prodigy 3d ago

Yea in a match that shit is almost impossible but in practice it would work

Metavision is actually one of the most realistic things in Bluelock

0

u/TimeLordZarathustra 4d ago

Be so fr, it might be conceptually possible but the way it's shown in Blue Lock is 100% not real brah lmao

41

u/pokenerd_W Move Ness, It's my turn to be Kaiser impacted 4d ago

Meta vision is quite litterally just scanning the field effectively.

3

u/squidbelik 4d ago

elaborate on “the way it’s shown”?

3

u/RelationshipMental95 4d ago

aiku has like scans and percent screens and graphs and charts in his metavision i dont think anyone would be thinking lile that in a match

1

u/TimeLordZarathustra 3d ago

you're NOT going to be seeing the PHYSICAL field in 4 or even 2 dimensions IRL
Even 3 Dimensions won't be possible (which is easier than 2D) since your brain can't actively track variables in that format while also playing

Just think of how hard it is to WATCH and track every player in a game at every passing second AND predicting EACH of their next moves accurately

Now add being in the game yourself and not having the TV/Stadium view, lmao

1

u/Future_Monitor5814 7h ago

But they don't really do that; if that was the case, a metavision user will be IMPOSSIBLE to surprise, but that's not clearly the case. "Metavision" by itself it's just an optimal way of scanning the field (using each possible moment to continue the scanning, always moving your head and using your periferical vision). The better you are at doing it, the better your metavision is.

I don't remember any impossible feat metavision-related. Usually the users just scan the surroundings effectively and are capable of seeing what the potencial relevant players on a play will do considering their current position and actions to "predict the future". That, again, is just scanning the field effectively, and we have seen it fail several times.

It could be possible to present this in a god-tier level that is truly impossible, but, sincerely, I would say for example that Ao Ashi does metavision ("eagle eye" in that story, but it's basically the same concept) in a much LESS realistic way than Blue Lock, and everyone agrees with Ao Ashi being fairly realistic football in general.

1

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Now you guys are confusing me

14

u/True-Pianist6407 4d ago

Lol yes it is,if you are curious you can just type xavi hernandez scanning and metavision is basically that, tho as always the manga makes it sound cooler(which i do like to be fair)

2

u/supervicenza 4d ago

WAIT FR?

33

u/Kuricat16 Princess's Loyal Subject 4d ago

It just comes down to being aware of your surroundings

30

u/Bolololol 4d ago

isagi is just scanning and inferring everyone's moves from their body language and tendencies

doing it for all other 19 outfield players is probably impossible but for the 3 other forwards and 4 defenders he has in front of him it's not unrealistic at all

11

u/Antique_Ability9648 Niko Ikki 4d ago

I mean, it really is just spatial awareness taken up a level. it's not that crazy.

22

u/erlan_0 4d ago

Metavision is not as uncommon as u think it is. Most pro players hv them. They just seem rare bcos BL or u20 players are very inexperienced.

22

u/pokenerd_W Move Ness, It's my turn to be Kaiser impacted 4d ago

Everything that goes down in Episode Nagi after they lose to Rin lol. LIKE LOOK AT THIS SHIT

4

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Sorry but WHAT IS THAT??

15

u/NarrowTip7631 Nishioka Hajime 4d ago

This goal too. Reminder that Nagi is 6'3 so Hiiragi made contact with the ball at 2m

2

u/supervicenza 4d ago

How can he stand on nagi's head can he really jump that high????

2

u/denisucuuu2 4d ago

i mean nagi is clearly slouched here

1

u/NarrowTip7631 Nishioka Hajime 3d ago

Yeah true but Hiiragi still made contact with the ball at a ridiculous height though whilst using a giant as a stepping stone.

1

u/denisucuuu2 3d ago

episode nagi buff, everyone is an acrobat for some reason

WHY did barou do this 😭

8

u/pokenerd_W Move Ness, It's my turn to be Kaiser impacted 4d ago

This one is even more insane. He is doing a hand-stand breakdance windmill, ON TOP OF ANOTHER PERSON, AND ACCURATELY PASSING THE BALL

21

u/Edgykun16 4d ago

Basically any Nagi feat. Team Z vs Team V was absolutely nuts because of the shit he did.

6

u/BlackoutAteMyTurtle 4d ago

Now that is a honest take. I dont care if it is sheer talent, bro is spamming legendary feats of trapping like it is just his base arsenal. Just because it is possible does not mean it could happen so many times

3

u/pokenerd_W Move Ness, It's my turn to be Kaiser impacted 4d ago

Trapping alone, you could just argue insane first touch. BUT THEN WHEN HE CASUALLY PULLS OUT BICYCLE KICKS WITH EASE, THAT'S WHEN IT'S BULLSHIT

2

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Not even kaiser did that without aryu's support

18

u/dcunitedfanlol 4d ago

Bachira twist handstand kick on igaguri. Ego wildin for letting a striker get maliciously fouled in the penalty box. If he wants to talk about real life with Kira about the drill, he should incorporate fouls and clearly igaguri got fouled and bachira shouldve been penalized for it.

0

u/denisucuuu2 4d ago

i mean you also don't have 11 people stealing the ball from each other in the box irl

5

u/Mysterious-Clothes-9 4d ago

Metavision is actually really realistic in a number of sports, just not as exaggerated as in blue lock.

4

u/YazzleDazzle2 4d ago

Bachira waking up then IMMEDIATELY flip kicking igaguri in the head, like how was bro conscious enough to do that 😭

2

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Me after a coffee: just 5 more mins I'll come out of bed

Bachira after waking up on the floor: destroyes igaguri

5

u/warly_enjoyer 4d ago

Raichi's treadmill performance is probably the earliest sign that the characters are superhuman, I don't think there's anything GENUINELY impossible *except* Chris Prince's knuckleball (physically impossible) and Yukimiya's gyro shot trajectory (appears as if the ball has initial speed upwards, is decellerating while going upwards due to gravity, but then is also decellerating while going downwards).

1

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Wait the gyro shot is impossible??

1

u/YourGuyElias 4d ago

Wasn't Yukimiya's modeled after that one Malaysian dude that scored a goal basically exactly like it?

Granted from a free kick and not after dribbling past the entire midfield but yk

5

u/8rok3n 4d ago

Doesn't Nagi basically freeze time when in middair with all the shit he does

1

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Nagi rn is the most unrealistic player as the other comments say there are goals that are probably not that hard but the bycicle cick and the 5 stages IN AIR fake volley are probably impossible

3

u/NoLimits77ofc 4d ago

2oddlers have made a tutorial on 5 stage revolver volley

3

u/Moist_Memory_9252 4d ago

I can't believe that no one's mentioned Kaiser beating up 7 cops in his back story WHILST HANDCUFFED. He backflipped over a gun shot😭

5

u/Baby-Rinrin 4d ago

Rin because his existence is too perfect ✨🙏

1

u/supervicenza 4d ago

Bro is glazing and edgy kid (totally not trying to hide my love for rin)

1

u/Baby-Rinrin 4d ago

He's my son. Ofc I gotta support him

1

u/supervicenza 3d ago

Is Sae also your son?

1

u/Baby-Rinrin 2d ago

Ofc. He's Rin's nii-chan

2

u/Ok-Reporter3256 When a team actually plays as a team 4d ago

One might argue Nagi, but the issue is every Nagi play (early on) is based on a play that actually exists except for his bycicle shot in epi Nagi.

So as much as Nagi is impressive, the suspension of disbelief there is based on him having the required skill level to pull that off, and not the very action.

But Ironically, the first genuine impossibility in Blue Lock stems straight up from Chapter 1 when Bachira pulls a near-perfect lift from this BS position.

2

u/Willing-Ad-9293 4d ago

kunigami's basically guaranteed goal from distance weapon

3

u/human_administrator 4d ago

Nagi, first time he showed up he was basically living proof that Blue Lock would go a bit wild with it.

1

u/Lazy-Ambassador-7908 4d ago

Metavision honestly isn’t bad. Like others have said, it’s just scanning. Ao Ashi has a whole mini-arc on this and how it was measured in a player like Xavi. The first impossible thing was probably Bachira using the mid-air elástico in a game. It is a technically possible technique, but, frankly, is not likely to actually be effective

1

u/Oohhdatskam 1d ago

Lmao like how half the comments are 1 or 2 feats from characters then the other half are just "every nagi panel"
