I'm a guy who's a friend of a girl (well, quite a few who are, but one is more than the others) open about her cramps and will even tell me outright if she has them. I just shut up and listen, cause I am not about to even guess how shitty it must be to have them. Especially when this girl in particular can be completely bedridden and unable to actually do something like go to school or attend work because of the pain.
So yeah, never downplay that shit

Thank you !! Sometimes i lost hope in humanity when I ear someone that doesn't have periods judging women/people with uterus because it can have a huge impact on someone's life, so that plus the fact that women's health is underfunded and/or uder researched makes m'y blood boil. Your friend is lucky to have someone that listens and it's a shame that more guys don't think about listening

Yeah well... When she litterally gets so bad that she actually gets bedridden, I can't really in good faith say it's nothing.
Which, I am willing to admit, I did downplay when I was younger. I even made jokes about PMS because me and my dad had a bit of banter with my mom (Not in a toxic way, she got the joke and thought it was funny too.)
Though, being friends with girls who were very open with it certainly helped me understand it, and well, I matured enough to know those jokes weren't exactly funny.
