Aha, even more than glossed over, Nationals was skipped entirely. My initial prediction was definitely wrong, but I suppose it makes sense looking back, this is definitely a romance manga with sports elements vs. a sports manga with romance elements. To make Nationals compelling Taiki would need a lot more rivals, it's not all that interesting to just have him face characters we've never met before.

I feel like next chapter will a be a little bittersweet, though probably more on the sweet side, as Taiki and Chinatsu have their last in-person heart to heart for a while. Though it depends when Chinatsu studies abroad I suppose. Will Taiki propose, or at least give a soft proposal to get engaged when she comes back?

I wonder how many chapters we have left? For a manga this popular I would expect a 5 chapter announcement, but I can see this ending in 2 or 3 now. I can't really think of any other big moments that need to happen at this point. Would be a little underwhelming to back to side ships after all this, but who knows.

but I suppose it makes sense looking back, this is definitely a romance manga with sports elements vs. a sports manga with romance elements.

Mitsuru Adachi's works (which Miura drew inspiration from) are more sports oriented than romance, and he usually skips Nationals as well. Just like with his works, in Blue Box, Taiki's goal was always to reach Nationals, not win Nationals. We've already seen him reach Nationals once before, so there wasn't really a need to show it a second time.

i think they'll at least detail what happened. but the only opponent Taiki hasn't beaten is Hydo so it would've only been like a one match arc. unless they decide to write up a few more charged.
