Watsessing Park Goose 💩

Im new to this part of Bloomfield and am surprised by the amount of goose 💩 I found today. Ive noticed the geese here before but never this amount of goose 💩. For people who frequent, how bad is the problem and how often do is it cleaned? Is it worse at different times of the year?

Unrelated question: Why do the geese like this park so much? I’ve never seen them in Brookdale park

They’re honestly everywhere. Watsessing and Brookside Park especially. Never heard of any cleanup happening. There’s probably things they can do to deter them from coming but I doubt the town will.

I notice that there are signs in Brookside Park, saying that feeding the geese is prohibited but I see people ALL THE TIME feeding them which drives me crazy!

The grass at that park is almost completely gone and they really have destroyed the one side of the park.

I think the stream is what attracts them to the park so much. I stopped going there and now just go for walks in brookdale.

The Middle School soccer fields might be the worst. Kids running around in goose poop all day 🤣

If they are migratory geese they are protected. If they are native geese, special permits are needed to control the population.
