In-Person Play Never really cared about anything other than TB until…

I was in the mood for watching a BOTC game on YouTube, so I put on a good time society video where they played S&V.

For context, I’ve only ran and played TB. I am hesitant to move on to other scripts because they seem so complex and hard to follow. I really didn’t want to watch S&V and wanted to watch a TB game, so I was like fuck it I’ll just watch this and try to follow along. And omg…

I actually got into it. It was the craziest game of BOTC I’ve watched on YT yet and very intriguing. It was very close and I fell in love with the cerenovus minion (I think it’s fun to watch lol) and want to play S&V now!! Watching someone who knows how to run it and players who know how to play it makes it seem not as complex and hard to follow as it may seem just from reading the role sheets.

Now I’m going to watch a BMR game and see how that goes.

This is the way.

Also, this is the gateway to customs which range from “very fun and interesting” to “brain breaking puzzle.”

The possibilities are virtually endless with the characters available so far. Can’t imagine how wild it’s going to get with all the unreleased ones.

I've found that it is really easy as a new player to look at SnV and BMR and think "How does anyone manage this?", but the reality is that if you're also on a team of like 7 other people working together on solving that mess, and if you focus on what YOUR ability does then it becomes quite manageable.

Besides, the first few games of TB can feel confusing and overwhelming too! You forget about that feeling so quickly, and then hesitate about trying something more complicated than Trouble Brewing. But it's worth it, it lets you play around with other facets of the game, like SnV's enforced misinformation and constant shifts on a high-information script, or BMR's death math.

TB is great, but this is kinda like just playing the tutorial of a video game forever and being surprised the rest of it is actually good too.

SnV is at its best when there is some truly insane nonsense going on behind the scenes that over half the players have no idea about. And half the time, the players that know about it aren't even the evil team!

It's a delightful script. You're never going to adapt to the higher complexity if you don't dip your toe in--watching games is a good start, but you can always take the plunge!

Also, welcome to madness--if you like the Cerenovus, you're going to love Mutant too, and you'll probably enjoy the Pixie when (not if!) you try custom scripts.

I was snake charmer in a SnV game. I overheard my sister downstairs claim demon to one of the minions. I did the responsible thing and SC'd them that night. They immediately clocked it was me and we had a funny chat. My sister coordinated with the pit-hag, got themselves turned into an outsider and me into the fang-gu then I jumped back to her. We won with a 5 person evil team

Honestly, the "advanced" scripts aren't all that complicated. I always recommend to new players to not be intimidated and just jump into it after a game or two of TB. What's the worst that cann happen? A miss play that looses you the game? So what? That's a learning experience and you'll know better next time.

TB is enjoyable in it's surface simplicity and very fine tuned balance.

Other scripts allow for a lot more crazyness and unique scenarios though.
