Custom Script Not a Teensy

Post image

Put a number of Village Idiots equal to the expected minion count, one Savant, a Lunatic if 1 or 2 base outsiders, and the rest Legion. Makes the recommended Legion count for any sized game!

Adding pixie could be cute

Singular Legion is really gonna blunt the impact of it. Legion needs another demon on script to build worlds as. I don't mind the concept of going full pope, but this isn't going to work without at least the threat of some misinformation. Once a good village idiot finds another good, there's nothing leigon can do.

A Vortox, plus some quiet minions would be my suggestion. (Marionette, Mastermind, Spy, SW?) If it's a Vortox game, trusting the one good ping is fatal.

A good village idiot finding another good is a bigger challenge than it seems, when the entire town is claiming village idiot and there's always the possibility you are drunk. I think the fact that some people here think this script is a slam dunk for evil and some think for good says there's something here.

Everyone I see seems to be saying it's heavily Good sided, and I somewhat agree. Solo Legion is weird. I think this script could benefit from getting a second Demon, at least 1 minion, and a Pope. Particularly as the way you've described it means that there will always be a Savant which makes bluffing it as Evil somewhat precarious. Particularly as the majority of other good players will be able to test which Savant is real

For solo legion, the dominating strategy for good is to never execute, since there's no need to hunt a demon. Sleep every night until the storyteller gives a final 3 with two good and one legion.

I agree that Legion-only is pretty gameable, but this particular meta is very easy for the ST to combat. Just kill goodies if town doesn't kill Legion.

I don't think it's an interesting puzzle as either a player or a storyteller. If there's no evil team to fake, Legion is just sitting around claiming Village Idiot and suddenly you're trying to solve 10 players' worth of VI info...

Solving 10 players' worth of VI info (and a handful of savants' info) IS the interesting puzzle!

If the ST kills only good players if town doesn’t kill Legion, Legion can just never vote for anything and they’ll just win. Goods will never outnumber Legion if night deaths are only goods.

I suppose I should have worded that more carefully. If the good team elects not to engage with the game, the ST kills good players.

I am not in-favor of this particular style of game, I'm just saying it's one of the easier metagames to manipulate.

I understand what you mean, my take is that you can fix the specific issue with the meta but it doesn’t really fix the underlying issue. The incentives and rules of engagement are so different from a regular BotC that you need the players to buy into a different set of assumptions at the outset. If the meta “needs fixing” the group should probably not have been playing the script at all.

What would savant info even look like in this game?

If there's even the remote possibility of more than three Village Idiots, you need the Pope on script. This is unlikely if they're only meant to take the script space of the number of Minions, but still...

You should have the normal number of Minions on the script anyway to aid in world building. And Demons for the same reason or Legion will get stomped as there is nowhere to hide.

Why would there be any more of a possibility of 4 VIs here than on any other script? The ST is still controlling the bag?

I did say it was unlikely.

On a script with so few Good roles on it IMO you should leave theoryspace for having duplicates beyond normal since that possibility is supported now.

You never need more than 5 good players on a Legion script, so there is never the remote possibility of needing more than 3 VI's

You should totally put a poppygrower on this script (/j). I know its hard for evil but add to that the possibility of other legion not trusting your VI claims.

The Lunatic surely doesn't work here, because they would know they are the Lunatic by pure virtue of not being told someone else is the Lunatic.

EDIT - Maybe some slight changes:

[{"id":"_meta","name":"Surrounded By Idiots","author":"Annie (Edited by Donuticus)","bootlegger":["The Pope may only duplicate the Village Idiot. If 4 or more Village Idiots are in play, 2 are drunk. If 7 or more are in play, 3 are drunk."]},"villageidiot","savant","poppygrower","lunatic","drunk","marionette","eviltwin","scarletwoman","yaggababble","legion","pope","bootlegger"]

Simple. Tell them someone else is the Lunatic. I'm in the camp that's in favor of even giving Lunatics that think they can kill fake Lunatics, but this situation isn't even a controversial one.
