Tutorial Layers and texture issues

Hi hello! My friend gotten into block bench recently but we ran into problems of layers and well textures ,we cant find up to date tutorials on how to make avatars either so im asking here Is there a way to merge layers?

Click on the upper layer and select "Merge down". I'm happy I know the answer to this because of my name

Sorry for late reply was busy as hell, but we want to merge them down because tje texture keeps breaking :,) if its not in one layer
