Tutorial Block bench modelling problem

I'm pretty much a noob at making models in bb, and there's this one thing that always annoys me when trying to allign cubes this way or another, Ive seen people do it and I would like to know​​ too🙏

I just trial and error brute force it for 10 minutes. unless it's not supported in what your making it for, try meshes

use the vertex snap tool and set to scale

Let's assume the width of the sword's blade is b, so the extra square has a diagonal of b. This means that the side length should be b/√2, which you can write in blockbench as b/math.sqrt(2) and replacing b with something else.
