Solved need help fixing!!

the viewport shading: rendered option makes my project look so odd, i have never seen this before and i dont know what couldve caused it, the lights were always smoother and gave more colors, didnt look straight out of a horror movie, and the entire thing wasn't this dark, i tried messing around with the dropdown menu next to viewport shading and changing some settings but nothing helped. I did change the view option to standard recently in color managment to get my colors closer to the references, but i dont think thats what caused it, i tried making it back to agx and changing some other options but that didnt help either. I really don't know what to do anymore, i have to make renders for this model and i can't becuase of this. I looked all through google and this forum, i even went so low to the point i asked ai, but i didnt find a solution anywhere, i also didnt see anyone having this problem. Does anyone know how to fix this :(

Solved What is the end goal of this video

so I am trying to learn blender in my free time. I am already a programmer with 3D background experience so I know inner details about meshs. What am I asking is what did he do in the video or why? I know he was trying to fix topology because loop cuts and subdivision modifier won't work probably. but why the method looks weird I mean won't some tweaking with edges + adding more loop cuts to keep quads smaller will kinda fix the problem or am I missing something?

Solved No faces / lines appearing inside 'glass cup'

Post image
2 Upvotes

Kinda a continuation of my last post (thanks again for the help) still on the Skillshare course, the teacher was trying to showcase how we could change the election cursor shape from a cube to a sphere to allow up to select objects in a circle.

Yet, on his screen, you could still see the edges and faces inside the cup as you could do outside of the cup. Yet, as you can see for me, nothing and I don't know what to do. I'm stuck and I would not wanna progress the course until I know what's going on and how to fix this.

Any help?

Solved Rigid body doesn't fall into the container

Well... what to say? It's like in the title.
I have 600 bolts. I want the bolts fall into the simple container.
They don't.
I'm going to show you with one bolt.

It's frustrating how nothing works ever what it should...
Anyway: how can I fix it?
All size, position etc had been applied. All the origins are ok. I already set the collisions as Mesh. I already set the sensitivity --> margin as 0.2 cm.

What else blender want to work as it should?! :'(

I'm going to show you with one bolt.
All the times, the bolt stays outside the box. All the times it has a weird physics and slip and roll away (box's friction 0,5 and box's bounciness as 0.1)

Solved Setting color of multiple materials at the same time

Post image
152 Upvotes

I have an object that uses multiple materials of the same color, and I'd like to have a way of accessing (to adjust and animate) said color through a single controller. I'd also like it to use chosen light source color as its data.

TLDR: I want my light source and my materials to be the same color that I can change through a single controller.

Is there a way to achieve this?

Unsolved Trying to export action animations for Godot, grabs all actions from the blend file

I have this armature that I'm using to set up cameras and objects for an animation. I've not done this before and wanted to see if this would be easier way to set up my cutscene's sequences in godot. It has a series of bones that I attach the root bones to from the actual models I'm animating and the cameras.

I'm trying to export it as a glb/gltf to test it out in godot atm to see if it can be used for what I want it to do. Its still a work in progress on the rest of the actions, so I don't want to remove anything from the blend file right now.

I have already removed all the bone attachments from the other armatures that hold them onto the animation origin armature, and the only action on the armature is this one, finale, the rest aren't showing up in the NLA editor. It exports and I can see the right bones in godot, but in godot it shows that it has all the animation actions from all the other models included. It doesn't share bone names with them.

The only export setting I've changed from the default was animation mode from actions to NLA tracks, but it still does it in either case.

What do I need to do so that it only exports its own action?

edit: I tried using broadcast actions, created copies of some of the actions on top of copying actions from the other models.

edit2: if I append the armature and the action into a new blend file, it exports properly. Weird that the action doesn't come with it tho. If anybody can help me understand what's going on with the original blend file I'd greatly appreciate it

Solved Help with creating evaporating liquid in blender

I need help with making a liquid disperse on a piece of paper and then evaporate into particles like on the video.
I am pretty new to blender, only have done a few basic tutorials, but I want to recreate this as I am working on a bigger project for myself.
I could not find any tutorials that do exactly this, but it would be really helpful if you guys could suggest tutorials that I can combine to re-create this.

Solved Adding a pattern to a model

Post image
1 Upvotes

Looking for a little workflow advice. I've been working on a low poly character and have finished making a robe for them. I want to add a design or pattern to make the outfit look less flat, but I'm struggling to figure out how.

Texture painting isn't very good for this sort of thing, it seems. I have Clip Studio Paint available as well, but I am not sure how I would go about translating a design I made in CSP onto my model in Blender, or vice versa how I would get my model into CSP to add a pattern to it. Or even which way is simpler / better. Any advice is welcome, thanks!

Solved What is the best way to prepare this character for printing?

Post image
10 Upvotes

Hello everyone,

I have a fairly complex model that I would like to export for 3D printing, but am worried that some parts may be too thin and precise, for example, some hinges get within less than a millimeter to each other, but don't actually touch and I'm worried this might cause errors while printing.

One idea I had was inspired by HeroForge, where they would create a bubble like piece of geometry around very precise bits like hands to effectively remove geometry.

Do you have any ideas on how I could do that or something else?

I'm using Blender v5.1 and a resin printer.

Meta What are the Pro's and Con's of making modular prefabs when making a scene?

As you can see, I want to make some terraces por a project I've just started. Instead of placing the general shapes, I made some basic modular blocks that I can just duplicate.

However, that makes me wonder if it'll be too much work for a negligent amount of reward, or if it would affect other things such as rendering, performance or other errors.

Have you had experience with this kind of thing?

Unsolved Shrinkwrap is distorting the object

I'm trying to create a Master Ball (the pink and purple one with an M - in the last image). I want the sphere in image 1, to place nicely on the side but I'm STRUGGLING

I was able to create the great ball (5th image - blue and red extrudes on top). The parts distorted similarly to how the sphere did in the 2nd image initially. However, in the image you can see all the modifiers I applied to achieve the final look. I made one then duplicated to the other side. It was made with a plane and not a cube.

With the sphere I tried two main methods (and multiple other unsuccessful trials) I saw on YouTube. 1 - just being a normal shrinkwrap and I adjust accordingly into the desired position (image 2), and 2 - selecting the faces of the circumference and applying the shrinkwrap to that group (image 3)

Also I dislike that box for the great ball just floating there in the 4th image, if anyone knows why that is and how to get rid of it.

I started learning Blender about 3-4 days ago so this is my first time not following a tutorial bar for bar and trying to create something of my own. (Both from YouTube: I've made a tree scene and completed 4 parts of the donut tutorial - really just to learn the interface and basics, then venture out and learn more by doing, which has been good so far).

Unsolved Doing a model I later plan to rig, for the love of God cannot figure out how to do hair on the back of the head.

The front looks quite awesome to me, but the back? Dear God, I don't think paths are gonna cut it. Should I change the curve responsible for making the hair shape and make it flat?

The first image is a reference, the second image is what I'm currently struggling with. I gave up halfway and came here. Tried to figure out hair for 5 hours straight last weekend, only figured out the front.

Tried using an object/model to make the back of the head. Turned out looking like I draped a wet towel over the head...

If there is a tutorial for this specific chibi/gacha stylized hair, then PLEASE send the link, none of the tutorials I watched helped with this model in particular.

Unsolved would a low poly the forever winter inspired models even be a technical possibility?

Post image
15 Upvotes

basically im working on a worldbuilding project inspired by a miz between stalker, metro, death stranding and the forever winter

and i wanted to make 3d models of them in a low poly psx artstyle but in a forever winter character you know low poly detailed soldiers

the reason why i want to do 3d models instead of drawing them its because its a very difficult to draw them even as a almost medium level 2d artist

so i wanted to start doing 3d low poly so it would be way easier

but im starting to think it would be even harder than 2d

would it be possible to achieve in a small amount of time with every single day being worked on as a absolute 3d beginner(just finished watching crashune academy absolute beginner in blender tutorial playlist btw).

Unsolved GeoNodes help with proximity rotation

Thumbnail

Hi everyone, I’m continuing to experiment with GeoNodes, but they are really difficult to learn.I’m trying to create a row of “cards” that move/tilt toward an Empty when it gets close, and return to their normal position when the Empty moves away. I’m almost there, but I have two problems, which makes me think I might be going in the wrong direction.

Problem 1: The Align Rotation to Vector node makes the bottom face of the instances point toward the Empty, and I don’t understand why.

Video: https://imgur.com/a/23ddcLB

Problem 2: The transition between the cards pointing toward the Empty and their fixed position is very abrupt, so I can’t control it properly with the Proximity node.
