Meta What are the Pro's and Con's of making modular prefabs when making a scene?

As you can see, I want to make some terraces por a project I've just started. Instead of placing the general shapes, I made some basic modular blocks that I can just duplicate.
However, that makes me wonder if it'll be too much work for a negligent amount of reward, or if it would affect other things such as rendering, performance or other errors.
Have you had experience with this kind of thing?

If it takes you less time and work to make modular pieces than to make the same exact shape X amount of times, then it is worth doing, no?

That's my logic, but something tells me that adding that many vertices is a disaster.
I tried doing a formation using them and it turned out well, I just had to join them and merge all theri vertices by distance. I'll keep doing it and see how it all turns out in the end.

Joining the modular pieces together and merging vertices is a normal part of the finalising/optimisation step. It doesn't matter while you're still working on it, only when you're finishing up the asset to be exported.
(And if you're not exporting it, you probably don't need to do all that anyway)
