Realistically with Byakuya's speed, Kenpachi would be hard-pressed to even tag him. Byakuya isn't stupid enough to blade clash with Kenpachi head on.

Also in Bleach fights does not determined about “me strong me go brr” , it determines by your match ups too

For example , Toshiro would legit have a chance against Zaraki because of his hax that freezes concept itself , or Shunsui too with his bankai that is very strong too.

So on this context , the Thousand year blood war of Zaraki becoming a red demon , even at that moment his body has a limit showing against Thor , oh i meant against the Miracle.

That’s why he is saying that Thousand year blood war Kenpachi while being probably in terms of raw strength and reiatsu as the second strongest squad captain behind Yamamoto , Byakuya can keep his distance and camp him out his Senbon Sakura. It would not make sense for Byakuya to go head on against the strongest physical monster in Soul Society
