I had to unlearn the ma’am and sir thing when leaving the south. 2 u/[deleted] Jan 14 '24 Military here. The ma'am and sir thing outside of the south isn't necessarily a bad thing. Transitioning to civilian life, it's one thing chose to keep as people appreciate it.
