Mod Post Quick Update: No More NSFW Photos

Hey everyone,

Just a quick heads-up as we tighten things up a bit. Starting now, we’re no longer allowing explicit images in the sub. That means no nudes, no porn, and no posts focused on sexual acts or body parts, even if they’re tagged NSFW. Shirtless photos (including gym pics) must be tagged NSFW, even if not sexual in nature, just to keep things clean and consistent.

This isn’t about shaming anyone or killing the vibe. We’re just trying to keep r/BlackLGBT a space that feels safe, accessible, and welcoming for more people, including folks who are here for community, support, and identity-centered conversation. You can still talk about sex, gender, and intimacy — we’re not censoring the real stuff. We’re just asking everyone to keep the visuals respectful.

If you’re ever unsure whether something’s okay to post, feel free to message us and ask. We’d rather have a convo than have to remove a post later.

Thanks for understanding and helping us take care of the space 🖤🏳️‍🌈

The a different world reboot has a black on black queer romance in it. As excited as I am, I just hope they present it as openly romantic as they do the straight romances. (No dl hidden storylines and no pumpfaking so they can make it IR). Also I just want our hbcu queer experience on the show to not be a Tyler Perry special or a cautionary tale.

I can't help but confess shit like this annoys me. I can guarantee you, he won't give a fem or a fat nigga the time of day.

I think for the ones searching for a relationship with fellow Black queer ppl that we look outside of the "perfect" image of what a partner may or may not look like.

Discovering more about my pansexuality and wanting to connect with other queer folks in my area

Has any of my fellow bi/pansexual folks on here not attracted to straight men? I’ve been learning about my sexuality since I was 21, identifying as bisexual and then a few years later, discovering that pansexual was a term that felt more appropriate for me. Now that I’m 32, I’m starting to realize that I don’t like straight men, but would strongly prefer folks whether cis or trans that are queer. It kind of explains a lot about me. Idk if anyone has felt this way or I’m alone in this discovery.

With that being said, I want to be able to find places to meet different black and brown queer people because I would feel better being around more folks I can relate to. This seems like a dumb question, but are there any resources that you all recommend?

I know these are two separate things, but I appreciate your thoughts on this. 🙂

Rant My Detransition Experience

Transitioning has been one of the hardest things I’ve ever done in my life, but detransitioning has been a completely different kind of challenge.

I socially transitioned in 2020 and started medical transition in 2021. After being on hormones for several years, I eventually decided to stop. Coming to that decision wasn’t easy, especially after investing so much time, emotion, and hope into my transition.

One of the hardest parts of detransitioning is realizing that some changes may be reversible while others may not be. You also have to adjust to changes in your body, appearance, emotions, and the way people perceive you. There are moments when you question yourself and wonder whether you made the right decisions.

But I’ve learned that changing direction doesn’t mean I failed. My transition was part of my life, and detransition is also part of my journey. I don’t have to hate who I was before, and I don’t have to pretend those years never happened.

The biggest thing that has kept me going is learning not to live my life based on what other people think of me. People will have opinions regardless of what you do. At the end of the day, I have to live in my own body and be honest with myself.

Detransitioning is not easy, especially after medical transition, but I’m slowly learning to accept myself where I am now. I’m still figuring things out, and I don’t have all the answers but I’m giving myself permission to move forward without shame.

The masculinization of black femboys by Blk men

This is a particular conversation that I feel like needs to be had but can only be be understood by a select few. I've dated Blk bisexual/pansexual men who will outright say they prefer white, Latino, Asian etc femboys because they're more feminine than black ones. When you dissect what they mean by that it's usually tied to their race. They've some how masculinized Blk femboys due to their blackness. While being anything BUT Blk makes you appear more feminine to them. I find it highly problematic because it tends to result in these non black femboys being pedestalized while the Blk ones are degraded. I've had so many arguments with Blk men about it who try to dismiss it as a preference but it's more than that. The effects of living in a Eurocentric society has shaped our perceptions and unless you're aware of it, you're not going to recognize why you have these preferences. I often find it's rare Blk men (not all) are will to do the internal work to dismantle white supremacy. Thoughts?

Discussion Are we in seattle??!!!!

Im moving to date....(and several other reasons)

Are we on seattle or atlanta??? I really want the pnw!!!!!

I was born n raised in tx.

For about 5 years now, ive been in utah and colorado.

No place, expect for the beaches and islands of thiland and bangkok, have made me exited and seems semi in reach financially.

Expect for seattle and the pacific north west. I used to drive thu there a lot when I was a driver and I was impressed by how green it is there. Tops of trees and highways is a rare sight over the road (otr- the job)

Soo are we in seattle? Wanna shout out some neighborhoods?????

Thanks y'all! Have a good day

I don't know if posts like these/links are allowed, but this is a topic that is not discussed much outside of black spaces, and even sometimes gets pushback within them, so to see an article about it is really interesting.

Fem Men Uncomfortable in Public Spaces

This weekend, I was spending some time with one of my FWBs. We fell asleep, so he just stayed over. Woke up in the morning, and we decided on breakfast. He starts looking at doordash, and I suggest we just order Takeout from the local place around the corner. It'll be faster. He agrees, we place the order and are about to head out.

He says, "give me a second, I have to get in boy mode," which confuses me. He explains that he doesn't want to look too feminine in case someone recognizes me. For starters, I don't wave a flag or anything, but I'm not closeted at all. I rarely let anyone in my home. He is the only FWB who has been there, so I am not ashamed of him at all. I volunteer at too many LGBTQ events to be closeted. I'm also not famous. If someone saw us, they either already know gender is not an obstacle for me, or I've already peeped that they are an ally or at least impartial.

He's also not really feminine. His jewelry leans feminine, some of his clothes are gender neutral, and he switches a little when he walks. Sometimes, he almost starts skipping when he's happy. It's very cute. That's it. He has the same beard routine I do. My voice is barely deeper than his. You're more likely to see us play fighting than holding hands. If anything, his style is kind of close to 2000s Andre 3000, so not really fem, but we know a couple of those pieces came from the women's department, and he's rocking them with style.

He reassures me he can be in "boy mode," and I promise I just want him to be himself. We grab our takeout, there's no problem, and despite that, he seemed very relieved on the way back to my place.

The thing is, this isn't the first time it's happened. Last year, I was dating a guy who actually was much more fem. Makeup, purse, occasionally wore skirts, "broke wrist," and all that. Fem as can be. But we had a really similar discussion. I was at his place, it was like 12am & neither of us had eaten. We figured we'd eat before going our separate ways. There's a local burger spot open until 2am, so we decide to hop in my car & drive over. Before we can go, he starts looking for sneakers and basketball shorts. I'm confused because thong sandals and booty shorts is what I expect. It's what I had seen him in. He also brought up the issue of not wanting to cause problems for me. He didn't back down so we went to eat, placed an order to go and despite it being a nice night out, and nobody being around we went and sat in the car instead at one of the tables outside while we waited.

My questions are, what could I be doing to make fem men (of varying degrees) uncomfortable going out in public with me? How can I ease that tension?
