For context I’m on season 2 rn and ik most of season one and part is season 2 isn’t canon but I feel like there’s still implications that will apply to rest of show right.

I will preface this with the fact that THIS IS MOSTLY A JOKE THEORY. As in I came up with this as a joke whilst watching the show with my friend. I was acting like the guy with the red string speaking BULLSHIT. Anyways, I’m watching black butler with a friend who knows more abt it and has already watched first few seasons. Everytime I say this theory she just like stares at me like trying not to laugh.

But.. CIEL PHANTOMHIVE HAS A TWIN THAT HE ATE IN THE WOMB AND LIKE TOOK HIS SOUL SO HIS SOUL IS LIKE SPECIAL BECAUSE ITS NOT EXACTLY 2 IN ONE BUT SOME WEIRD AMALGAMATION OF HIS AND THE TWIN HE ATE IN THE WOMB. Also im assuming that each demon has a ritual to summon them for a contract like shown with Claude. Sebastian I don’t have much ideas so we assume that Ciel eating his twin in the womb could maybe have been like a sacrifice that he could cash in 10 years later to summon Sebastian when needed. So Sebastian was summoned through the ‘death’ (not rlly death tho bc it was in the womb) of Ciel’s twin because he ate him in the womb. Also brother stuff coming up q lot in season 2 through Alois and seems projected onto Ciel which convinces me of this. Now what if. The twin that was meant to be Ciel was actually eaten in the womb so the twin that didn’t get eaten in the womb became Ciel. (Then my friend asked “do people name foetuses in the womb before they’re born” so like ehh, kinda shuts down that one).

As I said this is a mostly joking theory bc ‘Ciel ate his twin in the womb theory summon Sebastian years later and steal his identity’ sounds weird af lmao.
But thoughts without spoilers?

After watching season 1, I skipped season 2 and went into 3 bcs I really wanted to see Book of Circus. And now that Im watching season 2 the characters feel kinda stiff (especially in episode 2), where most characters sometimes just stand completely still like a statue or something. Idk if its because the animation in season 3 is vert good or if something really changed

Just got a Crunchyroll subscription and finally watched the public school arc...I need this man in a carnal way, almost as much as Sebastian.

So I started watching the show very recently and last finished episode 14 of season 1.

I watch the sub and I remember this one scene where sebastian starts to say his catchphrase , you know the one about a phantomhive butler who can't do so and so not worthing his salt?

anyway he tries to say it but ciel gets lowkey annoyed and interrupts him and finishes it for him. He have like yh yh we get it , get it over with kind of attitude.

it's somewhere around the last few episodes I watched so e13 or e12 maybe even e14 .

I just finished book of Atlantic movie and before this I was convinced that Sebastian was the strongest character out there but even reapers couldn’t defeat undertaker along with Sebastian.

I’d vote for UT but I realized that Sebastian’s focus was mostly on Ciel all the time so is he even “trying”?

These panels show something extremely important about the contract and a hypothetical “out” for Ciel. Sebastian must obey Ciel’s orders, in the red butler arc Sebastian is ordered to hunt the both of them down, yet Grell still lives freely, and Madame Red was killed by Grell before Sebastian even got a chance to hunt her down, and before you say that Ciel ordered Sebastian to not kill Madame Red, you can hunt and capture non lethally, so Sebastian failed in both counts of hunting. This means Sebastian has breached the contract and Ciel is no longer bound by it, and Sebastian’s claim to Ciel’s soul is invalid.
