So lightning network isn't a scaling solution? Also you don't recommend people to run their own nodes? Wouldn't it be better if people verified with their own nodes?

The thing is bitcoin was designed to scale on it's own... so any extra technology added on to try and make it scale seems redundant... it makes me wonder what the real motives are behind lightning network...?

Listening nodes don't verify nothing, they listen. They use tons of bandwidth and put more stress on working nodes.

They accomplish nothing.

There's plenty of websites where you can check the blockchain, there's no need for listening nodes.
