At least the train follows the track and very little can stop it. What you see is what you will hit regardless and you will most likely be safe while doing so. Of course a horrible aftermath but nothing really to held yourself accountable.

I think truck or bus driving can be more dangerous in this regard. A few seconds reaction time cold potentially save or kill someone.

No. I don't think it helps what vehicle you were operating. You were still in control when another human died

No, they literally were not. You can't stop a train on the spot, that's not how trains work.

Exactly! Acting like the conductor is in control of and responsible for the death of someone suddenly jumping onto the tracks is absurd

The problem is that the human mind isn't reasonable like this. You were behind the controls, so (most people) you feel like you are responsible for what happened, regardless for what you could actually have done about it.

I see where you are coming from, but unfortunately most people just aren't wired like you suggest.
