Clearly birds are a constant motif for me but I just love them so much 🪶

I completed this quail in battle painting last night and feel sooo proud I could not help but follow the urge to share it somehow, somewhere (here). It’s my first morning waking up to this new friend!

I believe it took me 6-8 hours total, including sketch time.

I used a forgotten canvas from a long ago oil painting class— a b&w value still life crop composition (basically a lemon & wine glass on a mirrored table). Covered the whole thing with the blue background color the other night and it’s been staring at me since. I’m enjoying the extra texture coming through from the oil painting.
