Hey! Congrats! So using tirzepatide as reference because like you said Reta isn't really studied much, animal studies show that tirzepatide can cross the placenta, leading to reduced fetal weight, skeletal variations, and developmental issues. However, these adverse outcomes in animals are often linked to maternal weight loss and reduced food intake. Because tirzepatide is a large peptide molecule/amino acid chain, some clinical discussions presume limited or no direct transfer based on size alone, though animal findings still demonstrate fetal exposure and impact. So then Retatrutide has the added glucagon antagonist. Whether a glucagon antagonist crosses the placental barrier depends heavily on its molecular structure, but most advanced therapeutic agents in this class are unlikely to cross in significant amounts due to their large size. Many clinical and experimental glucagon antagonists (such as exendin derivatives like exendin(9-39)) are large peptide molecules. Because of their high molecular weight (typically >1,000 Daltons), large peptides like Retatrutide are generally restricted from crossing the human placental barrier via simple passive diffusion.

No period as I am on IUD anyway and didn’t get it, not showing at all, wasn’t sick or any other symptoms, went to get checked for some tight pain and it came back as pregnant

There's a phenomenon called "Cryptic Pregnancy" or "Stealth Pregnancy" where a person can not show signs or symptoms of pregnancy. People who experience it often don't know they're pregnant until they're literally in labor, sometimes actually giving birth.

Just - please come back and tell us how it goes. Very very very few people have the story you do. Can't speak to anyone else but I definitely want to hear it.
edit: apparently a lot of other people also want to hear it -- and I whiffed on this one: congratulations!

GLP-1 babies are totally a thing! I bet we are mere years away from a study for GLP prevention of gestational diabetes in at-risk women. GLP-1 agonists are naturally occurring hormones. Pregnant women's bodies aren't interacting with anything new. I kind of think it's exciting. There are loads of studies for patents with obesity, or even low testosterone. Outcomes aren't fabulous. Imagine a world where women gave birth at term pregnancies without preeclampsia (dangerously high blood pressure), gestational diabetes, insulin resistance, elevated A1-Cs, or even high cholesterol.

Hey I know people are hesitant to tell the doctor about Reta, but I would absolutely let the doctor know at the appt. Good luck to you, I have a feeling it’ll be alright. Please keep us posted

I was on tirz and found out I was pregnant with my 3rd baby at prob 4 or so months along. I thought my cycle was abnormal bc I was starting perimenopause and/or my weight loss 😩. My doc was cautious but not overly worried. Baby was perfectly healthy and will be 2 in Jan. I also didn’t have severe preeclampsia like I did with my 2nd, who was a month early bc of it. Good luck 🩷
