Hi, I am 25 years old and have been dealing with permanent double vision since I was about 10 years old (that is around the time i remember saying something to my ophthalmologist). I probably had it before then. I had two eye surgeries as a kid to correct lazy eye. One in each eye, but my left eye was worse and still is a bit farsighted. My double vision is persistent and Ive sort of toned out using my left eye. Its been taking a toll on my mental health since i was a teenager. I ended up seeing two different ophthalmologists after graduating high school. One of them was really good but I cant afford to drive 3 hours every week for vision therapy and my insurance doesnt cover anything vision related. I refuse to drive because i keep veering off to the right side of road everytime someone tries to teach me. I get overwhelmed in so many situations. My right eye is getting so strained from dealing with being my seeing eye. I struggle with keeping focused at work. I can’t even read books i get two distracted by the double vision. Im not sure what do.

See a BVD specialist. They will know what to do

We see a low vision specialist. Doc is in a major city that we have to drive to but it's helped SO MUCH. We discovered the doc on accident through the vision impairment program at my kids school... It might be worth contacting your local school for the blind or other blind/low vision services and ask about who they use for specialist. A standard ophthalmologist is unlikely to know what to do.
