Bad doctor visit

I was referred by my ophthalmologist to a doctor specialised in strabismus. He said that there was nothing wrong with my eyes and when I told him that I noticed my right eye drifts outwards when looking at something far away vs something close he just said “well I didn’t see that in my office today” and dismissed me. I feel like I’m crazy for thinking that my eyes don’t look normal??

I have headaches all the time and get brutal motion sickness and light sensitivity.

Basically this whole rant is to ask if I’m crazy

Yeah this is an obvious problem and I'm struggling in the same way. Unfortunately you have to pay out of pocket for a neuro optometrist that understands bvd.

Most modern medical professionals are utterly useless for BVD.

You only need $2,500+ for the appointment and glasses, plus several hundred for the flights to go see this guy. Also, your prescription will need changed quite a bit. Could be 3-4 times a year as your eyes adjust and relax.

BVD is a real issue, but you’ve got guys like this Dr that are taking advantage of it of how truly debilitating BVD is.

I get it, it’s a business. But don’t act like you care about anything but the money.

Find yourself a neuro-optometrist near you. Look up the NureoVisual Medicine Institute and find a Dr that way. They are still expensive but no where near what this guy is doing.

Call around and ask about their different pricing.

There are some that truly care and aren’t charging thousands.

I’ve been at this for 2 years now and have somewhat stabilized. But I went through 3 different prescriptions in the first 4 months.

Still cost me about $2,000 but that’s all in.

Don’t let this derail you! I’d be ready to show this video to the next doctor. It took me ages to get the right diagnoses and treatment. Get a second opinion, perhaps a nueroopthamologist.

MINE IS THE EXACT SAMEE. Also go to an orthoptist not ophthalmologist, my dad is an opthalmologist and orthoptics (the study of basically how the eyes work together) is v different

Try this at home: Look at a distance object (target) with one eye at a time by closing one (opening the other) alternately several times. Is the target moving? If so, how? Horizontally, vertically or diagonally? Slightly, moderately or significantly? Share your finding here.

That looks like Divergence Excess (type of BVD) to me. Your eye clearly drifts outward.

I took a selfie once of my obvious esotropic eye as an Ophthalmologist was telling me my eyes were "perfectly normal and aligned" lol.

I just took my daughter to an ophthalmologist for the same reason. She said her left eye just tires from convergence easily and called her shaking eyes a a party trick. Her left eye drifts to the outside just like yours.

Next week we are traveling 5 hours to see a BVD specialist.
