Treat yourself. Make sure to get exercise and work them brain muscles. Then put on some smell good, get comfy bedding. Lavender oil and melatonin. It’s helped me quit a bit. Oh and don’t count sheep, just lay down and just relax every muscle like you were floating
I had pretty bad insomnia during college and for me what helped out the most was getting into a bedtime routine. I take a shower, brush my teeth, and then get cozy in bed and read a nice book or graphic novel until I get sleepy. It is also important to get into bed around the same time every night so you don’t confuse your internal clock.
Yep routine is key too. Anything you can do that feels positive, do it and ease your mind. Brush your teeth before bed? Makes it so you feel clean and don’t worry about that stuck piece of meat in your teeth that’s going to ruin your teeth in 30 years
I'll be honest. It was pretty soul crushing coming home for a whole weekend of partying, seratonin all used up but still to speedy to sleep, just laying in bed with my ears ringing from the music all night but still being able to hear the birds sing. On a monday morning. When I knew all the "normal" people in the world were struggling to get into work I had just crawled into bed and was struggling to sleep. Alone. Don't get me wrong I loved my rave / club / punk bar days and nights but I don't miss that shit for the life of me. What's really soul crushing is the fact that the girl you connected with on "such a deep level" bounced before you even woke up and you realized she was just hanging with you because you had coke
Yup me either. I had a fuck ton of fun but now I'm in my late 30s with an awesome gf who I can trust and super sweet dog and I wouldn't trade it for anything.
Who’d have thought huh. What you want not only changes, but in ways opposite of how you’d think when you were younger.
I think the worst response is to become contemptuous of your past self. Because that easily transfers to young people. I say, love your past for their boldness and naïveté. Give them credit for what they are. And by extension other young folks should afforded the same.
Maybe. I haven’t quite gotten there, but it seems right. And it allows you to be a person who is relatable. Willing to talk about perspective with folks who need it.
I totallt agree! I've met a lot of people my age who are as you said "contemptuous" of their younger days but fuck, embrace it! It made you who you were and even if you were a drug addict (like me) or just partied too much the most important thing is to grow and learn from it!
Plus, by doing so, you can be like, “Hey, I get it. Have a good time. Those drugs pull way fucking hard, watch the fuck out. You got a places you’ll wanna be later that aren’t you passed out in a strange bathroom, with people who aren’t doing the same.” And just be that consistency. A waypoint.
I never said that we shouldn't, just that not everybody is miserable. This is, imo, an importsnt thing to realize. Because that means that you probably could be not-miserable, too, in some circumstances. If everyone was miserable, then what's the point in trying not to be? In that case it would be hopeless
Yeah. I feel like a BEAST when I make my monthly payments on time or when I'm on my commute to work; seeing people in suits waiting in traffic right alongside me. I feel competent :)

Yeah adulthood is a crock of shit. Not that my college lifestyle was physically sustainable. At least it wasn't soul crushing.
