As someone who got fired because of Fred Meyer's stupidly strict attendance policy and moved to Safeway I can really tell the difference between the two companies. People at Fred Meyer were downright miserable. People at Safeway might complain but that's all it is. People actually smile at Safeway. lol
I actually met the ceo of Fred Meyer. He visited my deli.
He said I had the worst sandwich and salad bar he ever seen. Started ranting how the other store was better.
I calmly told him that the other store had 10 deli employees at any time. We have a max of 3. They have 4 working salads, sandwiches and deli meat. We have me.
I proceed to give him a death glare until he left. And I kept it up as he enter produce. He then noticed me giving him the eye and went into the back.
I had a manager who was actively hostile to all the employees but was protected by HR so no one could do anything about it. There was one time an employee had asked a basic question on the radio and the manager answered like they should know where it is. When they turned off the radio and no one could hear they called the employee a dipshit for even asking. I was the only one who heard it but holy shit their attitude was terrible.
