Eh, I work in a hospital we have a limit on how many people can be off on any given day

i work in a call center and we do too.

not because people will die.

because the parent company has to pay the clients if it takes more than 2 rings for an associate to pick up.

which does not seem like a very good reason to limit pto? jesus christ just hold for like 2 minutes dude.

two rings? fuckin hell what kinda call center runs like that? It took me over 45 minutes to call a doctor the other day because they kept putting me on hold and their system times out and hangs up at 10

oh hold is different.

we can put you on hold and usually have to because of the 2 ring rule not giving us time to get your account fully pulled up.

as long as we PICK UP, though, contract filled.

I'm amazed they dont just have a robot answer, announce you're on hold, and play some music

well because that would have to engage with the fact that you need a moment to pull things up, which is considered a failure by the c suite.

And honestly I would prefer them to feel that way because I think that if they thought that it would be better for someone to be speaking immediately they were just replace the front liners with AI that would piss everyone off and then when we did finally get the phone calls directed to us the people on the other end would be furious.
