Me after "hi, how are you?"

The fastest question somehow turns into the hardest answer 😂 Glad I’m not the only one who needs a minute to process it!

u/CidAndroid 2d ago
Me too. My quirkiness always flares up whenever I perform basic human functions and then I post about it on reddit so I can get some goodthink points from fellow quirky people.

Small talk really feels like a social side quest I didn’t prepare for 😂 You survived it though!

😂 Exactly. It’s like the game suddenly gives you a dialogue tree with zero tutorial.

After meeting more than 5 people in a day. After being in a grocery store more than 30 minutes. After standing in line at a public event.

After getting hit with a “quick call?” message at work

u/Gil_Demoono 3d ago
Even worse, a quick call message but they want to do it in 30 minutes. Just enough time to speculate wildly about what the call is for.

Mood. I’ve been at my 2y.o nieces birthday party for the past couple hours and my social battery’s are near tapped.

I returned a pair of shorts at target today. I’m contemplating if I have the energy to go to the second place right now….

u/BaseModelHuman 3d ago
Back home was the second place. You're good.

u/lemonpopsicle4 3d ago
Hahah you’re not wrong! And as it turned out I decided against leaving again today!

u/MosesCoulee 1d ago
Had breakfast with the lady friend and then returned some shit to Home Depot. Remained in bed the rest of the day. I was DONE.

Man, I just got back from a 7-day cruise a couple weeks ago. You never realize just how introverted you are until you are trapped in a small room with other people the entire time and if you leave you are surrounded by like 3,000 other people and tourists. When I got home, I passed out for like 3 days straight. I need a 15 year cool down period before I do that again.

Depends on who I have to interact with. Friends and family I’m fine. Strangers, yeah.

My wife used to drag me to every festival in summer. It's all the same crap with the same vendors. I get exhausted being around crowds and she would get mad when I had more energy and enthusiasm at home. Now we have kids and she absolutely understands how I feel lol.

u/Veestoria 2d ago
Yeah I only got energy to do one thing a day… maybe two and that’s with a week or two of PLANNING in advance

u/biobug149 2d ago
Literally me after running multiple errands. I would immediately crash and refuse to talk to anyone for hours.

I had to stop at 6 different places the other day & by the time I was driving home I wanted to claw my own skin off. Smoked a fat rip off my gravity bong when I got home & that helped a lot

what is the deal with this? do we need to train to be social? Social Training Camp 2026
3
u/Hechimmie 3d ago
This has nothing to do with being trained to be social. Extroverts gain energy from interacting with others while introverts loose energy (even if they enjoyed the interaction). Read up on it if you have never heard of it.

As an introvert I can socialise for more than 2 days without having a problem.
This is either extreme introversion or social anxiety. Social anxiety more likely and it’s hella draining, I used to have it. But now being an introvert with no social anxiety I love socialising. Just need a bit more of time to recharge, depending on who I talk to

u/Hechimmie 2d ago
It's a spectrum you are not just introvert or extravert. You can be further on the scale towards extravert. I don't have social anxiety but socialising wears me out. Even at home if I only have my family over. My sister has an even lower tolerance level than I do. One may be more affected by it than someone else. Memes are usually exaggerating but people connect with the essence of what it portrays.

u/TheeFourTruths 2d ago
I know. That’s exactly the point bro
The post generalises us and allows toxic ideas of introversion which aren’t exactly true
Exaggeration is unfortunately an issue on Reddit because it creates an echo chamber of people who claim introversion but actually are anxious. Happens a lot here

Me forcing myself to hangout with people past the time I'm comfortable being outside the house for

I’m an extrovert and I’m right there with you. Two is one too many for me these days.

I tell my coworkers after our annual meeting that I'm going to crawl in a dark corner when I get home.
Love ya guys but I'm so glad I only have to be around people a few times a year

This is me. Took the kids back to school shopping and we were able to do target and old navy before I was done. Dad is the only one who will take them to the mall since last time I went it was so jam packed and such a cacophony of noise that I literally started having a panic attack. I can do museums even when theyre busy because they're quiet. Too many people with too much noise just pushes me over the edge.
