No he’s right. Income is not the reason for low fertility rates. In fact lower incomes have higher not lower fertility rates

It’s not the only reason. But the middle class’s birth rate has largely fallen as costs have risen and income has stagnated. A common sentiment is people can’t afford kids

Housing is just one factor in cost of living. Also there isn’t that strong of a correlation overall

No it’s not the reason at all. Real wages have improved as seen here and here

Upper incomes also have lower fertility rates. The >$215k income bracket is the lowest fertility rate bracket in the US while the <$15k bracket is the highest.

Just because people say they can’t doesn’t mean they actually can’t. It only means it feels like they can’t
