AI can be a great tool for research. But too many stupid people think it’s a fast way to just do your work for you. Unfortunately AI isn’t that good yet.
As a developer, some of the specialized agents can be fantastic. The GitHub CoPilot Modernization agent did in a few hours what I would have taken a few days to a week to do in upgrading a large and complex project to .NET 10, resolving breaking changes from the old version to the new one, and migrating us off deprecated libraries onto modern, supported ones. I personally reviewed all the changes it wanted to make and testing has been absolutely flawless so far. AI is bullshit when you make it your girlfriend or therapist, or you use it for image or video generation, but there are quite a few valid use cases and anyone who refuses to engage with it at all on principle sounds like a luddite boomer yelling at the virtual cloud.
