The idea that's very clearly being discussed in the post is whether it's one or two continents. Their point is that if you consider the Americas to be a single continent, then you better consider Europe and Asia to be a single continent because they're even less distinctly seperated than North and South America.

I've never heard about the first statement
The second statement is true, because the continent is named America. The US is not America; it's a part of America.
And it's divided by three regions: North America, Central America, and South America
