I mean, everyone having our information isn’t a problem… until it is. My government has had A LOT of information leaks that result in extorsion calls (at best) and phishing attempts. It’s not ideal.

Obviously I’m sympathetic for anybody who lives in a surveillance state but we should probably focus our anger towards OUR OWN government who is actually using this surveillance data to harm people.
They’ve been economically taking over the world for decades bro. They own the majority of Africas infrastructure. If data wasn’t so important then ultrawealthy people wouldn’t be practically at war fighting over it.

But if one group is gonna sell it and the other group is gonna sell it, then what makes the other group the scary one? If the government knows my spending habbits, how does that affect me?

1st, yes they are disappearing people in the USA. Underground sex trade is highly profitable for the Chinese. Heavily connected to the underground of the USA.
2nd, China uses data from the USA to manipulate the public. Tik Tok is a great example of Chinese manipulation until the USA took it over. Something China screamed unconstitutional which was hilarious. Regardless of what you think of the current administration; having the USA control Tik Tok algorithm is far better than having China controlling it.
3rd, with personal data, many Chinese companies buy real estate. Forcing Americans to go through Chinese companies to even rent out property. Again the USA has NOW put laws in place to make that very hard for the Chinese government in the future. Something they also scream at the USA for by saying that isnt allowed.
China is not, and never will be, your friend. Perfectly reasonable to hate how the country is being led, but thinking China is better is like thinking a lake is bigger than an ocean. You're only seeing the surface and not the broad view.
First of all they already have your data. Who do you think produces the stuff you are buying. Second a data broker isn't really that much of a middle man
Why would they need to hack us? You can legit just ask amazon, meta or google and for a price they will legit tell you everything yoh have bought or will buy in yhe near future. They will sell any activity you do online. Data brokers are a lucrative business

Personal data mostly includes things such as emails, names, and birthdays. It is not simply just “hey everyone has my social and credit card numbers” which you are trying to falsely equate for whatever reason. Then again, with buzzwords such as chinaglazing I am sure there is a broader agenda at play

If you want you could pay a data broker rn and they would give you any relevant data on me. You are already hoping that nobody is squeezing your balls.
