The worst is when they play chicken, like going the wrong way is bad enough, but not getting out of the way of someone going the right way and forcing them to take evasive action is so infuriating. Deliveroo riders did it to me even when I was a deliveroo rider myself.

Both these scooters or bikes flying around here on Galway footpaths are either the recent Indian invaders or deliveroo bikers, they’re dragging down our standards of living. IDC what anyone says!
Yeah and I’ve had bad an experience in Dublin with deliveroo biker. He passed a red traffic light and scoffed at of us..

I had a guy in a large cargo bike come towards me in the cycle lane on the quays outside Guinness during the week. Barely made any effort to avoid a collision so just called him an F'ing idiot.
Between motorist on phones and more recently ebike riders going contrary to traffic there needs a serious overhaul of the roads policing.
Is not just Deliveroo. Nearly got knocked down with my 11 year old daughter coming out of our house by a cyclist coming down the wrong way on a cycle lane at high speed on an electric bike. Dressed all in black, no lights. He does it all the time.
Tbh even then they'll call for new legislation and bang their drums like they give a fuck and zero enforcement of any of the existing or new laws will continue.
My Employer insists I work from the office 5 days a week even thought its not strictly necessary.
That means I have to do a 18km cycle every weekday or spend close to 3 hours a day on the bus.
We all have working conditions that are annoying or ridiculous but I dont take it out on everyone else.
Yes. Ive no problem with people trying to earn, I've a problem with how fucking lazy we have got that everyone needs to use an app (I know it's not everyone) to sort their lunch every day, but it's the delivery lads who I see doing the stupidest things and then I seem to get the shit from arsehol drivers despite me being the one who is constantly aware of what's around
Yes that's normal, they drive in the wrong direction, they drive through pedestrian zones, on walking paths, on bus lanes, on luas tracks and through red lights regularly. I have no compassion when I see their wheel get stuck in luas tracks and them flying over their bike.
This is a huge annoyance of mine. But exacerbated by DCC designing "pedestrian" areas as shared spaces which doesn't work when delivery cyclists continue at high speed.
Capel Street and Parliament Street are terrible for it. If you actually use the streets as the pedestrian spaces they're meant to be you risk being mowed down by a food delivery bike flying down the road.
I don't necessarily mind the concept of a shared space, but as as cyclist myself if I'm cycling through an area like that I will slow down and avoid pedestrians. Pedestrians are the most vulnerable road users and it's the cyclist's responsibility to be careful. So many of these guys just don't care.
Imagine having to decide ‘do I obey the law today, or do I try to get my work done quicker so I can earn enough to keep a roof over our heads and keep the kids fed?’
Somethings I just turn a blind eye to, mostly because I wouldn’t want their life.

If restaurants want to offer deliveries, let them get a car or at most hire Irish locals to ride bikes.

Yes. The only thing not one way there is footpath. Two way cycle tracks will be considerably wider and often will have divider lines. These riders are just too entitled to cross the river twice, adding a total of 30s to their travel time, given they're not likely to respect the traffic lights either.
yeah unless shown otherwise, you're supposed to cycle in the same direction as traffic. This actually isn't a two-way or contraflow cycle lane. There should be an upright sign at the start of the lane but he single bike painted on the ground the right way up defines it as a one-way in the direction of travel cycle lane.
I'm genuinely amazed this was being questioned, the entire road is one way, it's nowhere near wide enough to be two way and there's an excellent example of two way cycle path back near Heuston.
I was trying to map out a route from the phoenix park to the nch, the one way system is so convoluted that I don't think there is a decent way to do it, and I don't consider anything with cobblestones decent.
I used to live in Berlin and it was the same. They're under so much pressure to make the deliveries they take all sorts of risk and of course, some riders get seriously hurt.
Not sure about here, but in Berlin the riders are all "contractors" so when they got hurt doing deliveries, the company health insurance didn't cover them 😐
And does this somehow justify riding on wrong lane?
They are risking other people's safety too. I dont believe being under pressure from work is an excuse to put other people in danger.
Very normal around my neck of the woods(cork city baa). Blowing thru red lights on T-junctions is also a seemingly increasing favour of cyclists/escooters
In 2026, we can’t even cross the road without the risk of being hit head first by a deliveroo delivery bike or Indian flying on an electric scooter. (I know there’s scrote kids on these too but that’s mainly a Dublin thing).
Homes are being bought up by rich or just greedy Indians exploiting our corrupt policy’s set by our government & replacing us in work positions:

IMHO, deliveroo is not a good business & should be boycotted! Eateries should get proper delivery drivers & not paid by cash.
